Of course we landed on the moon. Anyone who says we haven't is just a religious nutcase.
Umm... I'm sorry, I have to ask. What on freaking earth does the moon landing have to do with religion? :/
Some religious fundamentalists believe that it is impossible for a human to go past "the sky" (atmosphere), because that's where heaven is. Therefore, if it is impossible to go past the sky, it is impossible to reach the moon.

I love to ask these kinds of people how satellite TV, and cellphones work. They always give such delightfully moronic answers.
...

Wow. Okay then. I've never heard of a religion that ridiculous. Must be some small sects or something...
They aren't weird sects or anything, they're Christians, they just interpret the Bible completely literally, and add a little of their own batshit crazy on top of it.
Sigh, the world is full of too many people who add crap to the Bible. Though considering that's not a general Christian belief, that would in fact be a weird sect.

I have to say, I've never encountered a place in the Bible where it says that heaven is specifically up at all... and I know it never claims it to be just outside the stratosphere... weird.

In fact, the story of the tower of Babel implies that Heaven is above us, because humans try to build a tower to reach it.

The crazies only say that heaven is outside of the stratosphere, because they can't deny the existence of airplanes.
Yeah, but those who built the tower of Babel were worshipping Marduk, a false god. According to the story, it was for their idol worship that God separated the languages. So no one who actually believes in the Bible would believe anything like that, since the Bible portrays those events as negative and false.

Why won't someone just point a telescope (and i mean a big one. Like Hubble) at the landing site to prove it once and for all?

They've tried, but the moon is far away, and the reception of the pictures we get is atrocious. The reason Google Earth looks good is because most of the pictures were taken by planes, not satellites. Check out the pictures from the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter [http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/LRO/multimedia/lroimages/apollosites.html]. The lander module is a blurry dot.

if you think the moon landing is fake then your an idiot

the main reason is the russians, if they thought there was a chance in hell it was fake you can bet your ass they would be the ones to bring it up, not some idiot american trying to sell a shitty book
Exactly. The landing happened in the heat of the space race between the USA and Russia. Russia may have sent the first man into space, but the USA beat them to landing on the moon.

Cold War, ring any bells?

I would love for people to turn round to Armstrong and say yeah you didn't really go to the moon. Somehow i think he wouldn't be happy.
Mythbusters proved indubitably that they went to the moon

honestly, if we didn't land on the moon and said we did, the russians would of called us on it, remember, this was the cold war, the russians were highly invested in making us look bad.
and this. If the Americans did fake it, the russian space station would be all over it quicker than the speed of light and shouting foul play.

My mum (who's a total conspiracy-head) thinks that the televised landing was faked, but nasa had already been to the moon six years previous.

There's no reason to care about it, since we all know we are able to go to the moon today. No matter if it's fake or not.
