No-one ever told me anything. I just kinda gradually figured it out through conversations with people at school, and seeing hardcore porn for the first time was definitely helpful. By the time we had Sex Ed at school I think I knew more than the teacher.
Pretty much this. I nevr had the Talk, in fact, I mentioned Deep Throat to my parents (referring to the guy who blew the lid on the Watergate scandal) and my parents thought I was talking about the porn film and got pretty embarrased and annoyed. Of course, it didn't help that we were eating dinner at the time. Even if I did mean the Watergate guy instead. Still, either way, I learned myself over time. I've spoken to my parents about sex since then, but when I first found out, it was by my own means, as it were...

I learned on my own for the most part. But if something, say, on the radio or TV came on that was talking about sex and was saying something that was unrealistic or over-the-top my Mom would simply say "You know they're lying, right?" and I always did.

Unsurprisingly My parents Didn't talk about sex to me until I was about 13.

Most of what I know I learned on my own and from some chick that lived down the street.
(I wish I was kidding on that last part >,<)

I didn't get The Talk ... I got the abridged version which was basically Dad talking me through the means by which one rolls on a condom ... the rest I had to learn for myself

Cool? I think parents are down when they actually sit and talk to their child about sex. Because learning by yourself doesn't always put you on the right path.
Cool doesn't equal right. Still, I think it worked out for the best. I mean I haven't knocked anyone up... well okay, there was that ONE incident :p

I don't remember exactly when I had "the talk" from my parents. But I remember the mandatory sex lecture we got in elementary school in 4th, 5th and 6th grade (so starting when I was 8). They had to teach us about sex...so that the next week we could have the mandatory lecture about AIDS and how to not get it. Yay NYC Board of Education.

I learned when I was very young because my dad used to tape over my power ranger movies on accident with pay per view porn...

I figured it all out on my own, and THEN my mom decided when I was around 17 years old to start asking me questions about how much I knew. It was so.....wierd. It didn't help to have her talk to me at all. It just felt awkward.

My school was exceptional at sex education. They didn't teach "Abstinence only" either. I came back from meeting in the seventh grade with a condom.

In fact, a few years later(16) when my dad decided we should have the talk about protecting yourself, I pulled a condom out of my wallet. It kind of ended the conversation.

Alright this is my first forum so please go easy on me.
The poll question about having been exposed to porn got me thinking. At what age did you have The Talk? Did anyone had The Talk before you were exposed to porn? If you did, did you go meh when you were exposed to porn?
I received The Talk when I was 7 my mom thought it was important for me to know what sex was. So I was wasn't surprised at all when I was exposed to porn when I was 12.

Edit: Jesus Christ I thought there'd be more people having The Talk, but apparently most parents let the government or television teach their kids about sex.
I never got "The Talk" by the time i was 11, I knew more than my father, hahaha.

I was given a 5 minutes explanation of the basics along with the immortal line "Don't get anyone pregnant and we won't fall out.". My Dad is very practical and direct. TBH I Didn't really want/need my parents to go into any more depth than they did.
