I voted Yes.
There are several reasons for this:
1) I got it as an extra with the Orange Box anyway when I bought it for the HL games, so it was more of a fun extra than an actual expenditure.
2) There will be a lot of new noobs around soon to show who's boss.
3) I like, Counter Strike, but there are other games worth spending my money on more right now. If Valve released TF2 as F2P, then the chances are all in the ups for CS coming out as F2P as well.
4) They put a lot of effort into making the game better to advertise the F2P, including options like Auto-re-load, spawn with last used item, etc. (sweet!). Edit: (really a reason 6) the Medic video is out (double sweet!).
5) Purely, ideological reason: books used to be for only the rich in society (Medevil times), when you had to have a lot of money to be able to pay for not only the books, but also to learn how to read. These days these commodities have become more and more accessible worldwide and are almost imperitive in the West.
I'd like to see the same happen to videogames. It probably won't happen in my lifetime, but lately with Indie games becoming more widespread and gaining recognision and with the huge influx of F2P, gaming is becoming far more accessible to people without money or with very little to spare. (James Portnow did an experiment a while back on gaming on a zero dollar budget, which you can check up on in Extra Credits.)
I was ecstatic when Valve released their first five F2P games, because promotion on such a wildly spread system as Steam is a giant step in that direction. Personally I've been having a ton of fun the last week playing Champions Online and I'm not getting the feeling I'm missing out on anything, despite having not payed a dime for the microtransactions.
So yeah, I have no problem with F2P, because I feel it's good for the gaming community in the long run and it gives Indie developers more of a chance to showcase their creativity.
And personally, if every game became F2P right after I bought it, I'd see those as pennies well-spent and never have a grudge about it, simply because I'd know that now more people would get to enjoy the experience I'd have. (Compare argument 1 to what I just said.)
(Yay, 4th post. [And what a long one it became]).
