Perhaps said:
I've heard people say "******" will become the new "N-word" and that some gay groups found the word homosexual offense due to its negative connotations? I'm not gay so if anyone is tell me what you think about that.
I think the main cause for dislike of the word "homosexual" is that it comes across as excessively clinical in some contexts. "My homosexual friend, Mark" is kind of awkward.

Doesn't offend me in the slightest, most swearing doesn't.

I'm not gay, so I don't know how valid my opinion would be.

Fuck 'em (in whichever manner they prefer) if a word can break 'em.

If you're seriously upset by some yahoo reviewing video games, life's gonna be too much for you.

I'm Bi, but with a strong preference for men (i am a male) but i don't care if he uses the word "******". a lot of insults have double meanings. If we say we can't use the word "******" because there are really gay people out there, then we should say we can't sat Bastard, because some people really are illegitimate. we can't call someone a wanker, because some people actually masturbate. We can't call some one a girl, because there are actually females out there(gasp). basically, saying we can;t say "******" just because it means homosexual is giving gays special treatment, and i for one feel that is a step in the wrong direction, a step away from equality.

When will certain gays get off their "woe-is-me" politically correct horse and realize that "******" is used much like "retard" in modern slang? It is simply an insult without any connotations behind it. My friends and I use "******" extremely casually, and I have no problem with homosexuals - my half-brother is gay.

Also, I hate censorship of (almost) any kind. You do not have a constitutional right in the Uniteds to not be offended, grow a tough skin and get over it people. One of the reasons I love this forum is that they are not anal about censoring cuss words.

I'm going to also continue to use the word ****** as an insult.

This overly testy politically correct nonsense is beginning to try my patience.
Yes, next thing you know, you won't be able to drop the N-bomb freely.

Honestly now. I'm not offended by it, but this "pretend this is a new thing" kinda stuff is why I almost don't want to admit it. I feared this topic would be filled with people (i.e. SWM 13-25) claiming they don't know why it's supposed to be offensive when I read the title. Because these topics always are.

Has ****** even actually meant a bundle of sticks any time in the last 50 years? I'm pretty sure at this point it's just an excuse for every supposedly-clever person to show that they really don't get that words occasionally change meanings over the years.

In my opinion the way the British use ****** is completely different from the way the Americans do. In American culture ****** is used amost exclusively as the most offensive term you can call a homosexual person though in British culture words like bugger and ****** get used in many ways far removed from their intended meanings that its almost ingrained into the vocabulary and seems to be used more in line with whimsical camp than actual gay people.

No.
The only meaning behind a word is what we assign to it. If you choose not to be offended, you won't. Works for me.

I'm gay and I didn't even notice him saying it. Even so, it is supposed to be vulgar and isn't really attacking me as a person. So I am personally not offended.

The people who get to decide if a word is offensive or not is the offended person.
Personally, no. If you don't like it, stop watching his videos.
If he wants to use 'gay' or '******' as an insult, fine. Perhaps he shouldn't, but you don't have to watch it.

The way he uses it in his videos it seems to me that it's more of a way to make fun of the "Douchebag gamer" who thinks anything that has a story/characterization/no blood is stupid/gay/etc. not Yahtzee's actual opinion on whatever he's talking about. I can't think of any specific examples but I don't think that it's Yahtzee's style to use such a base and uncreative insult.

Considering he uses C*nt, ****** is not that bad considering you can say that word in public without getting swarmed.

No. It's a word. And besides, ****** has had it's definition changed so frequently that for all we know it now has a literary definition of "A person who smokes an excess of two packs of cigarettes a day."

..Nah, we pretty much know what its definition is.
That's really the only reason people still make topics asking about it. =P

EDIT: To illustrate: If the Great White Father was the one who created the words to belittle various peoples, it's the Great White Son who is quick to tell you why you shouldn't be offended by them. Dig?
He thinks himself more enlightened, but he's still dismissing what the undesirables think, and trying to convince you that not only does he know best, but that it's his job to make that decision for you.

No, because it's just part of who he is overall. So, he's different to me than a random person using the word.

So with THAT said, the casual and loose way the word ****** is slung around by so many people is EXTREMELY offensive to me, because we ALL know where the word does come from, and to say "it's not about gay people" is completely false. The word is directly connected to homosexuals, stereotypes of homosexuals, and negativity in general. Whenever I hear the word, I cringe, and quite frankly, it's one of those things that make me look at someone differently. I could never ever use the word without feeling sick.

I'm not offended in this case because it's part of Yahtzee's overall schtick, but when people say "that's so gay" and ******, it's solely because it's OK to use and essentially be anti-gay. People say words evolve and change, but is that true? You don't hear the n-word being used incessantly. You don't hear **** being used against women incessantly. You don't even here dyke being used incessantly. It's gay slurs being used incessantly, and they have become so normalized, people are numb to them and can't even comprehend why others are offended by the word. There is a reason for that. It's not "just because."

I like this fly-boy's fire. He has a certain jeh neh say kwah.

He has a point though. You know what it means. I know what it means.
It doesn't mean "retard" or "douchebag" like some are claiming. Yes, on 4chan, it basically means "person", but when it's used in any other context, it means "sissy, not unlike a mincing fairy". People call one another it over multiplayer games to directly attack the other person's masculinity. This isn't a secret.

And it ain't your job to "reclaim"/"normalize" it for them, so sit back and wait it out. You still have quite a backlog of words you "can't" use without getting pre-approval so it might take a bit before you get to that one.
