For a male voice, I think the God in the Burning Bush sounds like Morgan Freeman and the God who spoke to Job would sound like BRIAN BLESSED.

For female, I'd say Helen Mirren or Queen Elizabeth II as they both have a good combination of wisdom and authority.

Given God exists (which he may or may not to - Atheists, suck it up and go with it for the purpose of this), and his voice is projected by the Metatron (Not a Transformer) so that us mere mortals can hear it...

When you hear the Voice of God, who does it sound closest to?
You mean her voice? Glados from portal... duh :p .

The lack of James Mason as an option displeases both Eddie Izzard and myself.

I think it would be one heck of a twist if god was using Yatzee voice (no I'm not a ZP fanboy, I just think it would be an unexpected turn of events.

Emo Philips or Joe Pasquale, for the hilarity.

Or maybe Stewart Lee, which would be ironic in itself.

Ooof, hard choice....Its a toss up between Alan Rickman, Morgan Freeman and James Mason.

But if pushed I'll go with John Cleese. Why? Just the idea of the guy who made the universe sounding like Basil Fawlty makes me laugh way too much to not be the answer.

Heh yeah. Nice avatar BTW ;P

I would also accept James Mason as the voice of God. Forgot to put that in my previous post.

[Insert snarky remark about how there are no gods in the real world]
and/or
[Insert defensive remark about how this thread is useless/offensive/thoughtless]

As soon as I saw Stephen Fry as an option, I clicked it immediately. Why? When I played Little Big Planet, I loved his omniscient voice, coupled with the cute sackboys. I guess that for me, he has the voice of how most religious ppl probably see their monotheistic personas of worship: Calm, gentle, kind, etc.

(And despite how much I love using argument like "LOL, not really, lots of stuff in those 'holy' books you use for argument, that describe/condone horrible acts of violence by said deities", I realize most religious ppl actually see their deities as truly benign beings)

Hah, thanks, you too.
And do you mean the James Mason that was in Child's Play, y'know, the Child's Play that didn't suck.

What on earth is "the Metatron" supposed to be?

Metatron is a name, not a title. This sounds like some sort of angelic god-voice machine.

OT: Morgan Freeman. No contest.
