Poll: The Wii - Where are the games?

Back when I started gaming, I was given two choices, Sega MegaDrive, Or SNES. Most the games, albeit hard, were enjoyable back then. These days, we have many formats to play shiny games and it seems that the Wii is being played too much to the "Non-Serious" Gamer

The only good games that I've managed to play for the Wii are Mario Kart Wii, Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3 and well Wii Sports.

I know that everything is a business and companies must evolve to meet the needs of the current generation, but have you been to a game store and seen the Wii Section? I saw items such as "Mario Party 8", "Dora and the snow Princess", "Wii Fit", "Guitar Hero: World Tour" and Crap games like 20 in 1 Carnival games all more costly that the games I have actually enjoyed.

Will Nintendo ever start making games that the Serious Gaming Community will enjoy, or just this garbage that wont get a second glance?

I remember the Force Unleashed should be wiiable. But to tell the truth, I doubt that Nintendo would do anything noteworthy until they decide to start new things instead of beating dead horses over and over till they are a fine paste on their baseball bat.

I've managed to find plenty of enjoyable games on the Wii. It all depends on your tastes.

For the first time in my life I'm actually worried about Nintendo. Though No More Heroes did show me that there may be a light at the end of the tunnel.

I was talking about this in the nintendo are you listening thread yesterday. Nintendo now realises people are stupid. You know those people that have never played a game before or think its for kids and then they suddenly see wii fit and its like wahhh shiny!

Stupid games for stupid people. But nintendo don't care because its making them money! So i reckon they will never ever get their rep back and no games on the wii except galaxy and brawl will ever be good.

Just because someone has never held a controller in their life and therefore have no idea how to use it doesn't mean they lack intelligence. Just because a game is made that allows for people who have never held a controller in their life doesn't meant he game is stupid.

I'd like to attempt to add Bully, Trauma Center, Super Paper Mario and maybe Umbrella Chronicles to that list, but I see your point entirely. I've lost faith and ordered an Xbox 360 to try to perk up the console side of my gaming.

I'm afraid these billion-crap-games-in-one cash cows they market to the kids will continue to breed and saturate the system.

i still don't get why people buy systems when the games they want aren't out yet. i waited for two years after the Wii came out because that's when it had enough games i actually wanted.

also who said nintendo stopped making good games?

EDIT: and another thing, who cares if 99% of the games are crap? I have (i think) 5-8 Wii games and that's enough to keep me occupied. i don't care how much third party shovelware gets put out because i don't buy those games.

I've never enjoyed Bully or Resident Evil. And I and slowly going through paper mario, but It still doesn't make me want to keep buying their products

The Wii is like a bad woman. Sometimes it gives you great thrills but most of the time it just kills you to look at.

The biggest problem with the Wii is the crappy third party games. If Nintendo would just put more focus on good first party titles ,the Wii could be strongest competitor in the console war. I am personally looking forward to The Conduit, I dont know for sure if it is first or third party game, but it should push the Wii past its established limit.
Also, most of the Wii titles are black and white in that what is good is great and what is bad is crippling. An amazing Wii title doesnt get the credit it deserves because of the sheer fact that it is a Wii title. If I were Yahtzee, I would say that good Wii games are like gloden, jewel encrusted needles in a giant haystack made of shit.

But on topic, the Wii is not a game console for hardcore gamers. It's for children and the elderly. That's what it's for and that's what it will be for for a very long time. Yes, there may be the occasional "hardcore" game but honestly, will there ever be a game like BioShock or Portal for the Wii?

The people who can't be bothered to actually look at the Wii's library past the third-party shovelware that exists on every console.
Or maybe the people who think that because a game is easy to get the hang of and have fun with, it's shitty and "not a real game".
Oh, not to mention the people who look at Nintendo's staples, refuse to look beyond skin-deep and then decry them as the same old game repeated a million times.

I use to be a Nintendo fanboy. Nintendo had such fantastic games back in the day and i mean fantastic! But now when anyone wants to buy a wii game now the only games you can find are millions of the same party games that are just childish, with controls that do not work and are just terrible in every aspect!

Its not about people not playing games before its the fact that nintendo are only reaching out to this people thinking that everyone will like these games when in fact the people that buy games are people that have played games their entire lives! Nintendo are losing these people.

I'm fine with my Wii right now. Nintendo may not being making any more games but I'm still trying to get though the ones that all ready excist, I'm still trying to play though No More Heroes and Super Paper Mario.

But I think there could be some good titles this year...possibley. I heard a rumor theres a new Mario and Zelda in the works, and they're nearly always decent.
