All this petition shows is that kids who don't like/ "don't learn" from homework are in desperate need of some education. Perhaps they should be given extra homework.

Yeah I was just thinking the same thing. He's not really helping his cause.

Homework is very important! Without it you won't learn valuable lessons for later life. Things like the ability to work independently, time management skills, the course material itself (though this is probably the least important) and consequence if you fail to complete it. I think what is needed is a reform of the way homework is approached.

Also, apparently homework can 'stun' you... I didn't know it was a fucking status effect!

8-12 hours of sleep?! Seriously?! 17-year-olds don't NEED 12 hours of sleep. Sure, some of us LIKE 12 hours of sleep, but why the hell would this person argue that 8-12 is necessary?

No, what would you be doing if you didn't have homework ... and obviously video games? You would be drinking or shooting up.

However sarcastic I'm being, it really would make you lazy and college would hit you like a brick.

Yes, there are classes in college (if you go to a challenging college) that make you get a work ethic. Stupid right!?

Then, when you get into the work force you aren't a sack of garbage and get things done.

Do the homework.

No. There should be homework, I enjoy it. Why do I enjoy it? Because I can work at my own pace, I can listen to music while I study, and I get so little of it that it doesn't bother me.

My issue with the anti-homework stance is that about 90% of it isn't based on "I feel that homework is an inefficient method" or something like that. But rather "I wanna goof of and school is for fags".

Those are some terrible arguments for banning homework. He does have one good point though: he's not learning anything. Why give homework to someone who doesn't want to learn?

The one thing I HATE about what I have experience in college is the LACK of homework. Ok yes I have the "do this discussion once a week" but that doesn't help me! I absolutely ADORED homework because it MADE ME learn the stuff. I have learned less because of the lack of homework simply because it isn't repeated into my head over and over.

inb4 "Are you really complaining about NOT having homework"/"Dude how do you have no homework"
I'm sure Google could find you some kind of questions to do. Or if the subject lends itself to essays just write them on here.

Anyway, I fucking hate homework. I really, really do. Not necessarily the concept, but the implementation. I'm sorry, but 40-50 algebra problems a night in addition to whatever the hell other homework I have is a bit much. Luckily this year my math teacher is better about homework, but worse at teaching.

Homework makes kids at least be marginally responsible. My issue is being graded on it. As far as the law is concerned here (Florida), it's essentially illegal to get marked down for not having homework, although teachers still do it anyways.

That can't be sincere. No way in hell. Granted, I didn't do homework in school and I still passed but, homework doesn't encourage or cause obesity. I wonder where this kid gets his facts? Probably somewhere deep within his ass.

the only people who would want this to be passed into law are little pop (yes, POP not POT) heads that think life should all be about having fun and not learning anything.....which is 99% of our youth... i weep for our youth...

I agree with removing homework. I see it as an unnecessary way of stressing out students. I understand the reason but without the guidance of a teacher I find it hard to believe the student is learning anything. A simple way to solve this would be to give teachers more time to teach a certain subject by increasing the time needed to stay in school by one year.

Still, that petition is a horrible example for removing homework. It's probably just some kid frustrated by homework and whilst the petition is shit I can understand his frustration.

I didn't learn from homework in school.
I learned anything I ever needed to either 1) During class or 2) On my own.

Homework was just incredibly boring and unnecessary for me. It's why I didn't get good grades.
I never got lower than a B on any test in high school. Why should I have had to do extra work to learn stuff I already knew?

Grow.
A.
Pair.

Life is never going to hand you anything. You will have to do unpleasant things, and homework is one of them. What you want does not come into this at all. You have obligations. Deal with it. If you don't want to do homework, what happens when you have to do your taxes, or balance a checkbook?

And your grammar is horrible. Seriously. I know that we all make mistakes, but this is really not the place for them.

Sorry for the angry post. This sort of thing pisses me off.

As soon as the creator grows up, he'll understand why the petition is completely moronic.

Everyone hates homework at some point.

Its funny that he tries to argue against homework with such awful grammar. As a poster above said, he needs more homework if his grammar is any indication of his overall intelligence, which it most likely isn't, but still.

I never cared for homework, and still don't really care. But most of the time I learned something by doing homework, so whatever. And I was able to finish it relatively quickly. Honestly you don't get much homework, and it takes about an hour to do all of it. At least pre-high school. Of course everyone is different, so what do I know.

I agree 100%.

Homework should be done at home.
Nice.
