I'd buy it and play it, sure... but it wouldn't fit into the canon even as well as Fallout Tactics did. Makes for a fun spinoff, but wouldn't fit into Fallout's continuity. Maybe Wasteland's, though.

Really, anything west of the Rockies or on the east coast of North America would work (nothing in between, what with John Cassidy and his "radioactive dustbowl" comment), but for anything outside of North America, the writers would have to create entirely new lore... and forget Western Europe, the place was deep in civil war when the bombs fell [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkBNKa2KXZE#t=1m38s]... it's likely about as habitable as the American midwest.

Australia might work, assuming no one launched many missiles at it. Still, any connection to established Fallout lore would be flimsy at best... but it would work within the canon.

How about an NCR expedition to south america? I don't think I've ever seen a depiction of a post apocalyptic jungle environment.

Why does everyone keep bringing up Fallout in other regions? That's pretty much the theme for it especially in the newer renditions. I think it's even on the wiki as "a futuristic view of the apocalypse viewed from the 1950's"

Honestly it being so specific to America is great because it leaves a mystery to how the rest of the world is fairing and answering that really ruins the dread and feel. I want to know what the rest of the world is like but I don't want the question answered because it just kills the mystery and ends the immersion.

As far as it could be stretched could be Alaska/Canada or Texas/Mexico but I really think the setting fits it.
I'd love to see the game take place in New York or something but maybe that's because they'd hopefully put cars back into the series.
Cars in New York?
Nobody has a car here, there's too much traffic because of people from Jersey, upstate, and Long Island.
I live on Long Island you know, I'm aware of how it works. :p

Every time this thread comes up I always say the same thing: Fallout: China

Let's see what happened to the other side.
I agree, especially since we already have Chinese stuff fairly prominent in the games we have now. I'd like to see how things are going in Beijing.

My thoughts exactly when I posted (Sorry for it being a repost, I'm newer to forums and am trying not commit all the cardinal sins) fallout china would be a game I would totally play!

I'd be up for anything between Canada, England or China. Especially China, because it'd be pretty weird to see the other side of the Fallout-verse's pretty scathing critique of jingoism. Instead of having big-ass mechs designed to wipe out Communism from American soil, we could have slightly different tech levels reaching similar results and focusing on the odd and fairly obsolete task of wiping out the "American dogs".

Instead of extreme Halcyon Days-type yearning for fifties' America, we'd maybe get Dieselpunk takes on Mao Zedong's reform. I think that'd be pretty cool from a historical perspective.

As for Canada, well, that's my neck of the woods. The obvious choice would be Ronto, but what about Montreal? Or Calgary or Edmonton? What's up with B.C. in the Fallout-verse, actually?

I think they'll stick to America, though, largely because that's something that's accessible to them. Not that Canada is impossibly far from Maryland, but still.

I'm biased, but I'd really like a Montreal Wasteland. What's it like to live in the ashes of an annexed country? What's left of French, for that matter?

I think they should do Canada, although I may be biased as a Canadian. It'd be interesting digging up history about the annexation and great war in Canada.

I would be fine if it was set in China, nowhere else would make sense in Fallout lore. I think New Orleans could be a good setting for the next Fallout though as it is very different to both New Vegas and Washington D.C. Canada could also work.

Or what about a story about a ghoul character who was alive during the apocalypse. You could have things like flashbacks to the invasion or maybe have a trench-crawl as the tutorial.

I honestly couldn't give a damn about Fallout, but a post Apocalypse game set outside the US? Yes please.

While were at it, stop focusing on aking so much- give us some vehicles and make the maintaining of them the main element of the game. Yes I know I'm basically describing Mad Max but who cares- a game like Max Max would kick all kinds of butt.

I've said it before, and i'm sure i'll say it again - Fallout : Australia has to happen.
This! Can you imagine the wildlife! Spiders as tall as a human being that spit acid, Giant man-eating kangaroos, Dropbears and so much more!

Captcha: 6 Feet of Snow. Yeah, that's not going to happen though.

Fallout: Scotland

Roaming tribes of mutants, hordes of wild sheep attacking you, junkies lying around on all the run down street corners. Players would spend most the game wondering when the nuclear bombs are going to come.

On a side note, I'd love a version of the tabletop roleplaying game "Paranoia" to be made in the vein of Fallout 1/2 (ie, the darker humour, top down viewpoint, point and click etc). I would play the hell out of that game I think.

i agree that fallout is a very american game and would make little sense placing outside of north america.

i would like to see it in NYC or somewhere else relatively populated with other landmarks for the destroyed cities. a bland generic city would hurt the franchise at this point, both DC and Vegas are recognizable and can be used as inspiration and immersion. we already have the 'not quite irradiated' city in the middle of nowhere with New Vegas.

boston, portland/seattle, denver, florida/the south all come to mind as places that would be hit with the bomb and have unique landmarks to work off of.

or just play FO3 with mods.

I'd love a Fallout set in Germany. Or any place in Europe if I'm honest. The kitch Americana vibe Fallout has always relied upon is great, but I'd definitely be interested in seeing some other part of the world and how the fictional war played out there. Or maybe show us China since they're already tied so heavily into the fiction anyway. It's always fun to turn a convention on it's ear and show things from the opponents perspective.
