I've started to notice that during the summer, especially during the holidays, that I've been going somewhat insane while I drive. I'm not saying that I'm running people down with my car, because I'm not (there is that urge to do so though), but I've noticed that I will start driving in a odd position: My head a tilted sideways and my arms are positioned in a way that would look very uncomfortable. I've also started laughing so manicially that once it sounded more like a shriek instead of laughter. I've only gotten this crazy about 3 times, while driving.

Yesterday, when I was driving I got behind an elderly couple (who I don't think that they should be allowed to drive. I mean they were ancient, I would say around 90 years old, or so). Let me say this, I'm usually the type of driver/person who is patient, courteous, and will obey the speed limit, but what happened caused me to go absolutely insane. I had just entered a bypass between two towns and I was waiting for them to move into the other lane so I could pass them. but no, they didn't move. When I was just about to move into the next lane, I couldn't because I had to stop for a red light, but the elderly couple just kept on going. For some reason I just went crazy, and as soon as the light turned green I floored it, I caught up to them a the next light, which was red and I didn't brake until the last possible moment. I snapped back a few minutes after I passed them, and I still don't know why I went so crazy.

There are other times that I've gone crazy, not as intense as when I'm driving though. People have said to me that they've seen my eye color change when I start to go mad, or that the energy around me changes entirely when I start to.

So, I wanted to ask: Have you ever gone temporarily insane? If so please tell what happened.

EDIT: I tried making a poll but it wouldn't post for some reason. That could explain the double post though.

My friends have noticed it sometimes when I am talking, and I have noticed it too. When it does happen, my voice changes, my posture changes, my eyelids are more open, I grin a lot, I do strange things with the joints in my hands. Most of the time it happens when I talk of ways to take over the world or speak of being paranoid or strange paranormal theories.

It is quite fun, especially since most people see me as a kind, calm, collected and intelligent person.

I went kinda insane a few years ago due to someone passing away. Well. Kind of.
It's all in our heads. Somehow.

Still turned me completely nuts though.

I used to work as a security guard in Tampa. The Super Bowl came to town, and everyone was busy. My schedule that weekend looked like this:

Thursday: 6 PM to 6 AM - public event in Ybor
Friday: 6 PM to 6 AM - public event in Ybor
Saturday: 8 AM to 2 PM - parking lot for the Gasparilla parade
Saturday: 10 PM to 8 AM - store undergoing renovations
Sunday: 6 PM to 6 AM - public event in Ybor
Monday: 8 AM to 5 PM - business receiving threats from a disgruntled former employee

That's 59 hours of work in five days. And take a close look at Saturday and Monday and tell me when, exactly, I was supposed to sleep. I had a complete nervous breakdown the moment my shift ended on Monday, and had to call someone else to drive me home.

Is it all in our heads? Grief needs to be expressed, it's just a mark of emotional strength/frailty how you recover from it... I was screwed in the head for about eight months afterwards, but got better with a lot of help... until something else fucked me over. *sigh* (again...)

I don't think I've ever gone "temporarily insane". There have been times when I've gotten really enraged over something only to forget what I snapped over once I've calmed down, but that's just a combination of losing my temper and having poor memory. Only other thing that comes close is when I go on manic rampages in various video games; given how those are deliberately invoked, pretty sure they don't count either.

There was a week last april where I went cold turkey off my sleeping meds. I didn't ween myself off them or anything (big mistake). For a whole week I pretty much lost my shit. I couldn't concentrate on anything. I was jittery, nervous, and there was the whole questioning my sexuality which turned out to be IN MY HEAD. That was probably too much info for the lot of you but you did ask.

A few (very few times).

But when i had a pretty bad job i was pretty much waking up mumbling insults, punching the walls and screaming while driving to work on the highway. Pretty bad.

I mean, yeah... i DO have a massive problem with working, seeing my time ticking away, caged and dulled. But with that job... sigh.

I jumped in front of a oncoming train to pick up a young pigeon that was lying on the track.

The train was APPROACHING.I could have died that day.Its not like I'm a animal lover.I'm a non vegetarian and like eating animals (Member of P.E.T.A. -i.e. People in support of Eating Tasty Animals) .But that day I think I went temporarily crazy.

Still have nightmares to this day (curls up into fetal position)

I kinda "lose it" every christmas, every year it gets worse. I just can't stand the whole thing, being ignored by people when i want a chat, buttt them expecting me to drop everything to spent it with them, them telling you to cheer up and that i should be happy because its fuuuucking that time of year Grrrr. So last year, after being told to cheer up i flipped a table, kicked a tv in, then drove my car a good few hundered miles until it actually ran out of petrol on a motorway. Alllll fun and games.

I have a threshold as to how much inane bullshit I can take and once I cross it, I'm pretty crazy for about 24 hours. Not major things, just small annoyances like buying gas or not getting enough sleep, but with enough of them... snap. I'll just be on edge constantly and maniacally laugh at inappropriate times.

well once I started hallucinating from sleep deprivation and cold (I had taken my quilt out of my room when I got up to pee and forgot it, I was half asleep) and I thought my pillow was evidence of an alien conspiracy and was trying to protect it. the family was not impressed...

Hmm, Wow, all this people? i thought i was alone. Something similar happens to me quite often...
I find myself sitting in weird positions, smiling BIG for no specific reason, laughing hysterically and temporary distorted vision. The usual.

Sigh. If only that Jhonen Vasquez guy never existed, people wouldn't be delusional enough to think that insanity is some cool thing that sometimes happens.

Anyway, I get really angry sometimes, but I would never call myself certifiably insane. An anger problem or lack of patience does not make one insane.
I don't really know who you're talking about.

Also, I would like to say that craziness does run in my family, my dad's father (who died before I was born) was known as "Crazy Eddy", and he was institutionalized on multiple occasions.

I am actually a very patient person and I very rarely ever get angry, I get pissed but not angry, because if I get angry I turn somewhat homicidal. I used to take Ritalin, and that stuff made me have a short temper. When I was in third grade I remember that I finally snapped at an insult towards me, and I tried to strangle that person with a piece of pipe-cleaner. I was taken of it and ever since I can control my temper very well. I haven't lost it since that incident and I'm 20 now. Granted I've gotten seriously pissed off at people but not to the extreme in which I will try and hurt someone.

My username is actually the name of my crazy side, and it is always with me, slowly causing me to lose my sanity a little bit each day. As part of the deal I made with it when I felt my personality starting to split and become a separate personality when I was in tenth grade.

No, I'm not joking.
