Standard, I don't want to keep replacing batteries. More specifcily I am using a Razor Diamondback at the moment, might upgrade soon when I get a new PC. Come to think of it I need to get a new keyboard and a new headset. :p

I have a few that click about 30 times in a second, which make crafting stuff in Minecraft so much faster.
you should try searching for "convenient inventory" mod for minecraft. much easier than having a "turbo" button.

I got my corded lazor mouse by accidentally ordering the "deluxe" package deal on my msi laptop. I dont really care about my mice that much, i just want them to have buttons for my thumb, and to not fail.

Some random Microsoft wireless range. Does its job, I've never used an expensive gaming mouse so I can't really compare.

Logitech G500 for me.
<spoiler=Awesome>http://images17.newegg.com/is/image/newegg/26-104-318-TS?$S300W$

Customizeable in every way that matters, runs very smooth, comfortable... I've had it for almost 2 years now, still no problems. I can see myself having this mouse until it dies, and that's still looking to be years and years and years away. :D

Cyba snipa wired gaming mouse, I tend to not use the wireless stuff as there is a small delay in the signal transmitting that annoys the heck out of me.

And for my laptop I use a cheap £10 mouse that I got with my old PC back in 2002.

Up to recently only ye olde 2 dollar usb mouses.
It always amused me how a lot of fps players invested heavily in over the top mouses only to have me kick their ass anyway with my wallmart gear.

I got a pretty good one now though, it came with my new laptop for some reason. It has 2 extra buttons, settings can be changed on the fly, yadda yadda yadda.
So far the only useful purpose I found for the extra buttons is for zooming sniper rifles in left 4 dead. (Normally you press the scrollwheel for that but since scrolling changes weapons you often accidentaly change weapon.)

Razer DeathAdder, 3500dpi version. I like how it fits my hand, and the two side-buttons are useful to map 'push to talk' and either melee or a grenade to, depending on which options the game gives you and which is more useful/requires faster reactions.

Side-note;
'Standard' is a little ambiguous. Optical mice would probably be the standard nowadays, but is there a distinction between usual optical mice and more expensive mice that use an infrared laser or something? What about older mice that still use a ball that people might still use for some reason?

My Logitech G9 has treated me perfectly fine for a while now, although I've not done any serious gaming with it yet. Closest I've come is Bloodline Champions, and it's the only mouse I can use on that game without missing constantly.

Gamers who use wirless mice should be ashamed of themselves. They could give out any moment and then you'll lose. Worse, if you're playing MP, you might get pwned. How can you live like that!?

Wireless logitech mouse with incredibly high sensitivity. Was punishing at first and nobody else can actually use it but now i've got used to it I can navigate my cursor across both my screens without actually moving my wrist. Higher sensitivity = less effort
Basically this. I have all the sensitivity settings set as high as they'll go. But I'm used to it, so I have very good reactions when in a singleplayer game. Alas my internet rather ruins my advantage online :(

Using a razer wireless one. The battery however is so shockingly poor that it can't stand up to even one day of gaming, thus is permanently plugged in. So I've effectively paid more than double for a wireless mouse that I can't use wireless. Never buying a razer product again (except maybe the tron keyboard if it's ever released in the UK). My next mouse will probably be a logitech wireless one which takes 2 AAs. Currently using my wireless 360 controller for The Witcher 2 however....no mappable keys in that game is a real pain.

To trackball users, how does it work with FPSs in terms of accuracy, reaction time and so on?
And to whomever mentioned not needing a mouse pad for a trackball, there's never been a need for one for optical/laser mice either. The pad is only needed for the ball mice. Optical mice will work on practically any surface and at any angle, same as trackball.

I feel really boring as I've never purchased a RATT or anything special like that however much I've wanted one. My buddy and I got one another super-discounted battlefield 2142 (or whatever) specialized mice with weights in them along with a rather sturdy cord that was acceptably lengthy. I was lucky, but his was chewed on by his house's dog :S. Mine eventually pooped out too though.

Using a really old laser mouse and I don't have any problems with it.

Currently using Razer Naga [http://store.razerzone.com/store/razerusa/en_US/pd/productID.169418900/categoryId.35208800], so laser mouse, with cord, and more buttons than gamepad. I started using laser mouses about 12 years ago, my previous was wireless Logitech but it started eating thorugh batteries way too fast after 3 years so i switched to my current toy.
Since most of my gaming time i spend in MMOs the additional keybinds are helpful.
Hmm I wanted to ask, don't you feel a lil bit OP using this mouse?><
I mean keyboard with macro just saves time but this feels like using the keyboard only to move or some basic keys.

Standard wired optic mouse, 3 buttons (2+wheel). Don't like the idea of a wireless mouse crapping out on me (both the battery and interference, although I hear the latter is not much of an issue nowadays), can't say I've tried the trackball, but doesn't look appealing. I'd get a mouse with more buttons tbh (5), but just not something I feel like paying for at the moment and don't need it yet (might get it when SWTOR hits)

Clearly, I'm not hardcore enough to live on the edge like the Wirless crowd. I'm scared. Hold me.
