... No one that's ever cursed, used a vulgarity, been violent, aggressive, hurtful, demeaning, insulting, false, lied, killed another, used another, manipulated another, betrayed someone, thought of themselves above others, smoked, drinked, done drugs, thought anything bad...

If you didn't have THAT requirement you'd essentially be assuring that SOME LEVEL of corruption existed and that therefore some level of... abuse of power existed, and then of course... they'd grow bored... and... yeah this is the worst idea ever.

No, simply because I do not have the foresight to see where it would go. I am the type of person who would not go back in time to kill Hitler, not because I liked Hitler. No, it is because we were able to stop Hitler and with time things got a lot better. Who knows how things would end up without Hitler. Maybe the world would have encountered a Hitler type who we would not be able to stop.

I guess my point is, let's progress, but let's not get crazy. There is no need to go kill Hitler, and there is no need to create a god. The world is not perfect, but it has been getting better for a long time now, so we are doing things right, maybe not fast but still headed in the right direction.

I would however be in favor of gradually creating an all knowing AI construct a la Deus Ex, go play the game or read the plot to know what I mean. Basically the AI, would direct the world, direct us personally, but would not dominate us, and would still allow us to make our own choices. We would still be us as individuals, but still connected as a whole.

i think i could never choose a person to this cure (i call it a curse because you will end up with severe boredom and will never experience something new again).
and this person would soon become a being that either would leave us or destroy us since we are a really ungrateful bunch that would still complain even if it created a utopia for us.

Im sure of the billions and billions and billions of people who have lived ONE is good enough to be a god? It would be world peace forever if he/she was. No more hunger or suffering either.

Problem being that those who DO would have tainted, hurt, or killed that person, and such an affect if they weren't dead would make them act like that... I would admit that I USED to be very close to that.

you can't alter someone so drastically without changing their personality a great deal. thus your hypothetical is illogical and I nominate my cat.
I never said it wouldnt affect them. I just said that they would retain their own human feelings, meaning this creature wouldnt be "incorruptable" or "omnibenevolent" they would feel just like a person the second they got their powers. After? Who can tell, the idea would be to nominate someone with enough will to do so. Its a hard choice.

Sounds like a reaaaally stupid idea. People are biased, how do we know this person we turn into a god won't turn the world into his own image, one that might be very bad for all of us? I mean, it will basically be a person with infinite power, and one person with a lot of power is bad.

As an impartial judge I would say that I must know the location of the secret god giving super power thing so I can protect it from everyone. Then I take it for myself, instantly become god, and edit the OP so that I can choose myself and as such was in the right.

OT: If I can't choose myself than no one deserves to be god.

Actually this is the perfect answer, let me show you why.

As in all cases, the one who WOULDN'T want power is the best choice... because they would never abuse it.

You would.

yes absolutely, the good that would come out of it would highly outweigh any bad that came of it, if a decent enough person was chosen ,and even then if that person lived to "infinity and beyond", they would evolve over time and they would become the ultimate being of reason and consequence, so yes, i would gladly install someone with god power, it would keep dipshits who crave power in line or they would be gone with an instant lightning bolt to the skull

well...no besides if I could somehow become the god then I wouldn't remove all of the worlds problems because the world would not only depend on me they would then lose any need to better themselves if they got anything they wanted whenever they asked for it.personally if i had the powers of god then i would just hop around performing small miracles unnoticed and warp reality to my whims.

it is impossible to not abuse power in some way, even in the slightest, so yes, anyone would abuse it, but to abuse it the least amount? you would definitely not be the candidate if shown by your rash pick in your original statement.

Hell no. We're THIS close to figuring out all that ourselfs and I'd just let some god have all the credit?

Fuck that. I'd just try to make it so it's me and than remove almost all of my power. I wanna fly, and not with some cruddy jet pack i have to wait like 25 years for.

I suspect from your behavior and attitude that you'd be one of the people struck by that lightning bolt fairly quickly.

To be honest...

---

If you BELIEVE everyone would want power... then that is another reason you should not have it.

I don't think a simple choice would be nearly safe.
