Actually this is the perfect answer, let me show you why.

As in all cases, the one who WOULDN'T want power is the best choice... because they would never abuse it.

You would.
Everyone would.
Can you speak for a world of 6 billion people? Maybe one wouldnt. Captain america thinking. Give it to the poorest child in africa.
eh idk about the poorest child in africa..

what if the child has zero perspectives on anything?

i wouldn't even pick a child at that, i would pick at least a teenager, maybe even an adult who has a full thought process.

the one who fears the power is the one worthy to use it wisely.

If you're going to give god-powers to a human, might as well give it out to several. I wouldn't trust powers like that to a mortal, flawed as they are, so it'd be much better to have several more that would be capable of keeping them in line. Mind you, you'd end up with a pantheon very much like ancient religions, with all the squabbling and such that came with a bunch of higher beings with personalities just as flawed as humans, but hell, they'd keep each other from doing overly stupid shit.

I must admit Captcha, running around as a god would be quite Funity.

yes absolutely, the good that would come out of it would highly outweigh any bad that came of it, if a decent enough person was chosen ,and even then if that person lived to "infinity and beyond", they would evolve over time and they would become the ultimate being of reason and consequence, so yes, i would gladly install someone with god power, it would keep dipshits who crave power in line or they would be gone with an instant lightning bolt to the skull
I suspect from your behavior and attitude that you'd be one of the people struck by that lightning bolt fairly quickly.

To be honest...

---

If you BELIEVE everyone would want power... then that is another reason you should not have it.

---

I don't think a simple choice would be nearly safe.
i didn't say anywhere that i believe everyone would want power, but obviously from all the gangs and guerilla wars going on around the world, yeah there are some very power hungry people out there.

And if i was struck by the lightning bolt? well hopefully i did something wrong, if i did then so be it, then if not i obviously made a horrible choice of a person to pick to put in power.

I don't claim the right to speak for everyone. However I am not naive enough to ignore that if you give someone ultimate power and all the time in the world, after they fix the petty issues they are gonna become pretty bored. Not to mention that they will certainly seek to impose their ideals onto the entire world, leading to someone always being unhappy and calling power abuse.

Child is probably the best, because they have the most imaginative capability retained at that age still, and they still have their innocense, innocense with power would lead to the lack of need to become "tainted" because that is usually a requirement of maturity and development and they wouldn't need to do that.

God is most likely like a child in his personality, not to say he isn't wise or intelligent.

it is impossible to not abuse power in some way, even in the slightest, so yes, anyone would abuse it, but to abuse it the least amount? you would definitely not be the candidate if shown by your rash pick in your original statement.
Why would you want to give someone complete and utter control over your entire life?

Maybe they'll go create art like our God did and thus create solar systems and galaxies.

while I would say that we've done fine so far without a "god", at least making one would sort out all these stupid cultists/zealots fighting over whose god is right.

When humanity finally wakes up and realises it doesn't matter/needs a god we can all focus on SCIENCE!

although the Space marines did... alright so meh

We have solar systems and galaxies. Enough that we will never explore them fully in either of our life times. Besides even if he willed them into existence in an instant, is that all you want your god to do. Keeping making the universe bigger and bigger for no reason what so ever instead of solving the problems on our own planet.

I am an atheist but if I am wrong and there is a god I have a few ideas on why he doesn't cure diseases and fix everything and creates natural disasters. As for not fixing everything, it would be irresponsible. We would become dependent on God to fix everything and wouldn't be able to do anything ourselves and advance as a species. As for natural disasters, there may even be rules God has to obey to when creating things. I don't think there is a god and wouldn't want one to be created.

if it made the world a better place for everyone? no hunger? no wars?

I would give up my freedom right now in a heartbeat.

Like in the original post, it would up to our pick, and i would pick someone i think to be very level headed who wouldn't interfere unless absolutely needed into peoples lives, i wouldn't pick a control freak who needs to enslave everyone.

The best way to help us is to have us learn on our own and yet equip us with the means to rest assured that we aren't all doomed on our own.

And yeah, the universe is a beautiful place and is an expression of the ideas and creativity of our God, and giving us a sight to appreciate... that goes a lot more than just healing someone from the dead.

Consequence breeds action and action breeds consideration and that means we think.

It's quite possible that slavery while not ideal for us, might be the best way for us to be fixed in a quicker timeframe... not slavery like doing menial work, but definitely being aligned and reigned in... shown our place...

Sometimes the best things come out of the darkest moments.

The problem with that is you can't possibly know what a person will do with infinite power until you give it to them. We aren't talking about the power to just stop a war here or there, we're talking about the power to create everything in YOUR image of perfection, and I bet you everyone's image of perfection is different. Besides what do you consider to be necessary enough for God to interfere with?

while they are the most pure, as a human being we have the high ability to kill and be ruthless, so just being pure doesn't mean they know whats morally "right" and whats morally "wrong", (that is subjective also but just a rough give on that)

There is a difference between a god acting like a child, and a child acting like a god, sure if this child was instilled with knowledge and power and reasoning, then yeah why not a child, but if its just a child at its pure form with no logic or reasoning..ehh thats iffy

while that is true, like i said i'd pick the person who is fearful/least likely to use it (and yes you once again can say you never know what they'll do, but if logic dictates anything i'd pick someone decent enough) so they would intervene when it truly meant the sway of millions of lives, not taking away everyday personal freedoms.

and while my idea of necessary might not be right, i'd hope the person would just stop global atrocities from happening (such as tsunami's, massive earthquakes, massive wars, etc..) and spend the rest of their time being a freelancer (going to a hospital and having everyone by a miracle cured with no one knowing it was "god", have them go to a 3rd world country the next and have their harvest grow extraordinarily amazing, etc..)

while that is a bit more along the lines of 1984..with big brother.. i can't say i disagree horribly, but yes that was a very rough worse case scenario picture of what i was thinking

having a superior being, a god, can make things nice and orderly, lawful, while as of now with everyone running around as equals with anyone being able to take the power, leaves lots of room for chaos and disorder.

You bet your ass yeah, especially if I could do it. My point, I have flaws, but morals, something that is lacked now in days. If I choose the nicest man on planet, they'll tear up at everything, if I choose the worst man on the planet, no one would live. I think I would be a decent choice, again, I have flaws, but Morals. For example, no war, if a giant disease arose and started to spread, I would lock it to one place alone. Mainly, Dawinism and so the Human Race can survive.

Just something to consider:
"It is weakness rather than wickedness which renders men unfit to be trusted with unlimited power." -- John Adams, 1788
