whats the difference between jelly and jam?
or is jelly american for jam
I believe jelly has gelatine in it and is typically made from fruit juice and jam is just fruit and sugar boiled down and reduced.

I could be wrong though.

But... I have more than just one of those things on my toast... I sometimes have butter or jam or chocolate spread or cheese or cheese spread or... one time I had egg fried rice on cheese on toast because I just wanted to see what it was all about... :D

I just ate toast that had a hole in the center and was fried with an egg in the hole. It was delicious.
mmmmmmmmm. excellent isn't it? one problem tho... idk what the bread is like in other parts of the world. but over here in the states we have really thin weak bread. there is only one store that carries home made bread thats hardy enough for an egg-toast breakfast. its expensive but damn its worth it.

edit: ah shit double post. don't hate me!!! i cry a thousand pardons.

Thanks to a quick Google search:

Jelly, jam and preserves are all made from fruit mixed with sugar and pectin. The difference between them comes in the form that the fruit takes.

In jelly, the fruit comes in the form of fruit juice.
In jam, the fruit comes in the form of fruit pulp or crushed fruit (and is less stiff than jelly as a result).
In preserves, the fruit comes in the form of chunks in a syrup or a jam.
I have some delicious strawberry/guava and mango/pineapple jams from Hawaii (Hawaiian Sun brand) that go great on whole-grain toast (the grainier/seedier the better!)

Ah, toast. The perfect side item to any breakfast. With a multitude of toppings and spreads, it's so versatile! I usually top it off with butter and jelly but I've been known to dabble in peanut butter from time to time as well.

If I absolutely have to spread something on my bread, it's commonly some mayonese. My philosophy is that if the bread is good enough, you don't need any toppings.

Has anyone ever eaten rye bread?

I like to do combinations. Peanut butter and mayonnaise.
Great work being adventures and experimenting with food. :D
The greatest combination I did with food was a mixture of Fanta, 7up, and coke cola and that was years ago. :|
I'm going to go have toast with strawberry, black current, apricot jam/peanut butter/chocolate spread/honey/butter...... With cheese..... As soon as I get bread from the shop and cool avatar
