Anything about Girls and Gaming, ever. The avatar ones are alright if they're in the right section and the questions aren't too similar.

"Girls and Gaming" and "Here is why I hate this game/developer, do you agree with me?" and "Developers should do things the why I want and not how they want to do them because I know how they should make there game better then they do". Those are three thread types I'm tired of seeing.

edit:

I forgot one. Threads about people who feel self entitled. They act like developers owe them and they should get things for free. And they complain about dlc.

I wish there was an All of the Above option on the poll.

The seemingly weekly thread about some one who didn't like Half-Life 2, piracy threads, Justin Beiber news updates, and more than anything else, a thread every single time somme one at Fox News says something stupid. The commentators just say those things for the attention, it's not really worth the effort paying attention to them.

Oh I just remembered another one, religion threads, to be more specific, the threads where the OP found an anti-religion on youtube. This might not even annoy me so much if the makers of these videos actually knew anything about the faith they were attacking.

If I could pick one kind of thread I'd like to see vanish, it would be the threads about pokemon.

Any and all.

List threads should be locked on sight.
I hate list threads with a passion. "Post the names of your top 10 favorite games without going into any detail what kind of game it is or even half a fucking sentence explaining why you like it!". Sadly these threads are so, sooooo common on this forum.

Seriously, people, this needs to stop. List threads are completely useless, they leave no room for discussion and contain nothing of interest to anyone. Honestly, when was the last time you posted in one of these threads and actually READ any of the other entries? Which is kind of the point of a forum, to read the other posts, otherwise you could just aswell write a blog.

And there's an easy solution to making these threads not suck: just add a sentence or two explaining WHY you like something. If it's your favorite game ever, you should be able to sum up why. This will make your posts somewhat interesting to others, maybe they can discover some new gems, maybe make them appreciate something in a different light. And no, "nuff' said" isn't enough, you dipshit.

I'm serious about the bolded part, there should be a zero tolerance policy for list threads without any actual discussion. All such threads should be locked, I know forums that do this and they kick ass.

Gaming and Girls. It's something that's been pretty well established by now that girls are a healthy and large section of gaming.

Every single recommend me an anime thread ever.

Girls and gaming.

They bring out the most idiotic, misogynistic fuckers on the site.

I don't have a problem with most topics. I mean at least the stupid ones are interesting/entertaining/LAUGH AT THE FOOLISH MORTAL! to read.

What bothers me is thread trends. For instance the past couple of days. Every now and again we've had an avatar thread for a while now, and that's fine. I must have seen about six over the past couple of days and I just occasionally put this site up as a background thing while I'm going about my business, clicking on the most recent posts and hot topics list, so I don't check it that much.

Hate aside for a moment, I'd like to say that I quite like recommendation threads. I can see how they're useful, and not just for one person - I've picked up a few games because of threads made to that effect by other people. And, well, if it's books or games that I can give some input on, it's always nice to be able to help someone out and possibly get whatever it is for them.

Still, I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority here.

All so very inane and annoying. They point out still existing points of ignorance and immaturity in the Gaming community.

Well, I wanted "can somebody recommend", but I accidentally clicked "anti-American" for some reason.
But my beef is usually with how people create and then conduct themselves in those threads. I usually see "Hey I like action games and I was wondering what I should get next." without much detail as to what they really like in an action game. So you just list a few good ones, and then the TC comes back and says "Well I already tried all of those." and "Nah that game is full of [mechanic that the TC doesn't enjoy] and I don't like that at all." And this is the part where I start to hate the thread. Maybe you had given enough details in the OP, we could have just helped you from the start instead of having half a page of figuring out what you already have played and what you don't like! And by the time we actually worm enough info out of the TC to recommend something he hasn't played and might enjoy, I simply no longer give a shit if he finds something or not.

Equally annoying are the "Should I get [game from genre A] or [game from genre B, which is as different from genre A as it can possibly be? Which is better?" as if I'm supposed to be able to compare the two and say which is more fun. They are different types of games! If you asked me if you should get FF13 or Mass Effect 2, that's easy. If you asked me if you should get ModNation Racers or Mass Effect 2, WTF?!

And an underlying problem with both kinds that will bother me more or less depending on my mood at the time is that basically, the TC is just asking everyone else to post mini-reviews or go Googling for them instead of doing the research themselves. Hey, you have the internet obviously, why not go on one of the countless gaming websites and read some of the hundreds, if not thousands, of reviews for any given game and that will help you decide if you might like it or not.

So yeah. I generally wish recommendation threads would go away and never come back.

Also, the threads that aren't so bad themselves, but that I know will get annoying replies. For example, if I see a thread titles "Am I the only one who doesn't like Star Wars?" I know every page is going to have about half of the replies be "YOU'RE NEVER THE ONLY ONE," (often in just as rude a fashion) as if OP literally meant that he is the only person on the entire planet who has the opinion he is expressing. It is a figure of speech indicating that one is comparing his opinion with those of others, to see how much of a minority his opinion actually is. It does not actually mean anyone was naive enough to believe that his opinion is so rare as to be shared by nobody else.
I agree with that, especially as most people who post the "YOU ARE NEVER THE ONLY ONE" head-biting-off posts never don't seem to actually respond to the thread. They just bite the guy's head of for using a common expression and don't actually contribute. Considering the regulations against "low content posts", I'm surprised more of those posts aren't getting people suspended. They could be getting warnings though (we wouldn't see that).

Girls and gaming. It's been beaten to the ground with a dead horse on a stick.
Got a very peculiar mental picture there, of a horse on a popsicle stick...

Anyways, I do breathe out a sigh when I see the Avatar threads; I get disappointed when they're not, you know, about the airbender... Still, some of them can be interesting, I feel.
