I agree completely. I found the episode to be unfunny, and if they were going for heartfelt, they failed at that too. It's hard to have an emotional attachment to a character you just watched eat poo.
Oh, and Outcast, everyone digs giant robots. Megas XLR was an amazing show

I didn't really think it was that funny of an episode. In fact, it was pretty boring. The only thing it did was give a slight insight into the characters.

I really don't watch it anymore, save a few episodes. From what you described, well.. Er.. Eh?

Futurama and South Park are really the one's I tend to care of anymore.

Didn't watch it. Gave up on it a looong time ago.

I've found what's wrong with alll these shows. People in 10 years won't find any of them funny as they are all topical humour. When those events have passed 90% of the humour if you can call it that is gone.

Whereas good Simpsons was timeless. I still indulge in an episode or two and find myself still laughing at the jokes and set pieces.
The newer episodes of simpsons have lost their spark, as for Family Guy, its got its moments but I often don't put myself through the rest of it to enjoy them.

I'd been having doubts and this episode has clinched it, I'm done with Family Guy. (I stopped watching before the "musical numbers" I hate songs in TV shows).

I am just hoping that American Dad doesn't go the same way, but thanks to that fucking Koala I think it probably will.

I like Family Guy. A lot in fact.

I actually like the newer episodes more than the older ones

But this one was just...painful.

I know what they were trying to do; they were parodying that All in the Family episode in which Archie is locked in the cellar (I think. It could have been the attic) for a whole weekend and the comedy for that episode was similar.

Rather pointless, somewhat disturbing and all in all it was a pretty dramatic episode.

But that show was able to pull it off.

Family Guy was not because its humor is nothing like that. It tried to go a full episode without music, flashbacks or cutaways and, in Family Guy, that doesn't work.

Audiences are used to the satirical style humor that Family Guy has been known for, not this.

At least this weeks South Park more than made up for this lame episode.

Read the spoiler. Are you serious? Fucking Hell Seth MacFarlane's losing it. And they keep giving this guy shows? He has three for fuck's sake, Matt Groening has only had two and Futurama went through that rough patch which it's only just recovering from, Bill Lawrence had Clone High cancelled after one season even though it was ridiculously hilarious and Jhonen Vasquez's twisted dark Invader Zim got cancelled after two seasons.

I mean come on, there's not a shortage of genuinely funny cartoon creators, why give it to Seth "recycled formular" MacFarlane? The guy has literally run out of ideas.

God, that episode was torture to sit through. Let's see, which was my favorite part? The ten minutes of Stewie trying to convince Brian to eat the shit out of his diaper, then lick the shit out of his ass, followed by eating a pile of vomit?
The ten minutes of Stewie talking about returning a three-thousand dollar sweater?
Or, of course, the entirely joke-less ten minute conversation between the two about how Brian might want to kill himself one day?
This was without a doubt the worst episode of Family Guy I've ever seen. I really had to wonder if the writers actually thought what they were writing was funny as they were writing it. You could practically count the amount of joke attempts on one hand, and even then the jokes were just... Gross. It was a comedy without any jokes in it.

Guys, guys, as much as I love Megas XLR and want to make whoever decided to cancel it after only two season burn in the deepest pit of hell, we should probably save that for another topic.

I suppose I saw what they were trying to do here, but the habbit family guy has of trying to explain the joke to make it more funny out of sake of irony is really getting annoying. Also, trying to pull off Brian and Stewie as believable characters cannot, I repeat, CANNOT work right after Brian ate Stiew poop, vomit, and then licked his ass.

Family Guy should've have stayed dead, I loved it before, but it has never been the same since it came back.
