Your presented with a choice, Every single problem in the world today (War, Famine etc) will be solved over night, no one will ever be unhappy again and there would be no crime, But you get erased from history, Not killed - Erased. Everything you've ever done wont ever have happened (*Edit* Apart from making that choice, the world would still be fixed)and everyone who knew you would instantly forget you ever existed and to make matters better or worse depending on your outlook, you are still alive, but no one can see you or hear you, You can't intereact with anything or anyone, all you can do is watch the effects of your sacrifice. The question is, Would you do it?

Me, I'd love to say I would do it, for the good of everyone else.. but really, I know I couldn't.. Selfish maybe, But I dont want to die, and when I do eventually die the least I want is people to remember me, so no, I couldn't do it.

I'm military so I've already basically said I will give my life for the good of others, so yes.

"Everything you've ever done wont ever have happened"

But then there's no point in saying yes since whatever you did won't have happened, and therefore you wouldn't have made that choice, and therefore war ect wouldn't be stopped.

Would I erase myself from history to rob every single person on the planet of their free will?

That's not an ultimate sacrifice, thats the biggest dick move ever conceived. Made even worse since you wouldn't exist anymore, and no one would have anyone to blame for the lose of free will (And they couldn't play the blame game anyway, since that requires a little bit of self interest).

Oh no!
You didn't put 'Other' as an option on the poll!
WHAT WILL HAPPEN NOW!?
:p

Sorry, but the sheer amount of times people have complained ta me for not having 'other' as an option is staggering.

Anyway, this is rather intresting...
If i choose 'no', will people know i could have stopped war and all of that?

I was going to put a 'Other' Option in actually, but then I thought its a straight question, You can either do it or you dont, some people will try to find loopholes as always though i guess, and i also thought about putting in an answer to your question, but i think its more interesting to let you decide that yourself, if you had no idea weather people would know or not, would you do it?

Interesting take on it, but im alittle confused, how exactly is it robbing people of their free will?

IMO you should pretty much never have "other" as an option for these kinds of questions, as that option is 100% worthless. If people absolutely can't make up their mind, they can just not vote.

OT: it kind of depends on the mechanics of the "still being around" part for me. I don't like that. It seems like a terrible life (unless of course the endless happiness also applies for me). Will I live forever? If so, then fuck that; nothing is worth having to live forever. If not, can I just kill myself when I get depressed about not being able to interact with someone? In that case, yeah, I'd make that sacifice.

No. I don't believe in sacrifice. Also, if people would never be unhappy again, no-one would be happy by default. Ever. It'd just be pointless.

I left that bit of it open to interpretation on purpose, i didnt really want to say "You WILL live forever" or "You CANT die" because that limits answers, but in my head when i was answering it i imagined not being able to die.

I wouldn't. Humans aren't worth it. Well majority of them anyway, so weak and stupid. They deserve all the suffering they get and then some. Specially rich and famous people and the clones that follow them.

I'd tend to agree with this.

Also with my vote the poll is now 50/50 talk about divided.

Sort of confusing, do you still live after making your decision? If so, then this is the sort of situation my misanthropy yearns for.

Idealistically, it is in my morals to go on and put the well being of others before me and do what must be done in order to make everyone happy.
Realistically, I'm a bit selfish, and I enjoy my life- I'd rather not 'end' it. I want to be known and remembered-isn't that what we try and do? Create a legacy for ourselves, passing tales and adventures we have so that we are remembered?
I've said this once before "If Earth is hell, and Heaven is a beautiful, peaceful place-- I'd rather spend my time down here on Earth."

Without picking your example apart for all the bits that don't make sense, and sticking to the spirit of what you're asking: yes. I'm not so into myself that I would prefer my own pleasures of life to the good of the greater world.

I'd do it.

But only on my deathbed. When My life is done, I serve no purpose, so at that point, I wouldn't care if I never was.

But before that? No way. Being stuck in a limbo, unable to do anything even remotely fun for the rest of my life? Yeah, that'll be a fun 70 years. Not happening.
