i dont like them because they are to "easy to do" for example most games you earn 50% of them by completeing the campain then the rest are somethign stupid like play 10000 games online

Look Achievements/Trophies aren't bad in themselves, there are two types of people who like to get them.

The normal gamer who to this feels good when that little blip pops up, an added icing to the cake, yet not something worth striving to get. You do something that's awesome in game and you get an Achievment, and it feels nice.

The lifeless gamer who struggle and waste their time trying to get them all, like it's another challenge in the game itself.

So they aren't bad, just some of the gamers that want them.

ternal Sonata, this bugs me, I think I have 17/22 achievements and my score for that game is only 300-odd, to get the last ones I fear I have to play it through twice more....urrrrrrrrfgh (so I'm not doing either of these lol)
I believe you can do ES in a mere two playthroughs. And since it's actually rather short, clocking in at a mere 35 hours for me, including cutscenes and the extra dungeon, I see no reason you can't.

I'm usually quite indifferent, whatever I get, be it by random chance or I was supposed to (Do X, achievement get), it's just point.

Despite the above statement, Team Fortress 2 brings out the inner Achievement whore in me. I'm only missing 6 out of 300+, most of those I got by myself using bots.

sometimes they can be fun, but generally just treat them as something that just happens

if they are funny or memorable then I like them, like the irony achievements in bioshock 1&2 or the portal, lost, and world of warcraft easter eggs in X-men origins:wolverine.

Depends. I try to get a lot of them, but when there are ones that are completely unrealistic or ones like in Brutal Legend where you have to play multiplayer, I don't care much for them.

You get 2 numbers (the points for the individual achievements, and the completion point for the game), plus the pride in saying that you accomplished something.

Plus, it's his time. Get off his back. lol

They really should make multiplayer trophies optional. That way I can get platinum on a game without having to play a multiplayer I don't enjoy (Brutal Legend, Bad Company 2, Aliens VS Predator)

They could have some sort of feature where you chose to activate them or not. Once they are activated, they stay activated forever.

I find them strangely addictive. I hate collecting ones (like the mentioned assassin's creed 2, I'm only missing 3 achievments, and 2 of them lack feathers), but I don't mind ridiculously hard ones, such as playing all campaigns on expert in L4D. I honestly only got through one because my friends didn't really like the fact that it took us 3 hours. It was still fun to try it.

I consider achievments as bonus challenges, that I can do if I feel like it. I only do ones I feel that are worth my time (= anything that doesn't involve 100000000 kills or collecting stuff). Also, multiplayer achievments are usually really fun to do with friends.

I only go out of my way for them if they're easy or look fun. I am currently on something of an achievement rampage at the moment though, due to being very close to having a GS of 'over 9000'.
I like their inclusion though - apart from the boring story completion ones, they encourage you to play the game in a slightly different style, or try different things within it.
Example: In AC2, would I have realised how useful the spear was as a weapon had there not been an achievement for sweeping people with it? No I would not have.

Achievements are nice. Especially the loony ones. IT's always nice to be rewarded from your efforts. Like Napoleon said: "A soldier will fight long and hard for the piece of collored ribbon."

Some are a nice challenge. As long as they're not incredibly hard I'll usually make it a goal. It will usually make you play in a way you haven't before, like choosing all the classes in Borderlands or picking to be evil in Fallout. In that way I think some can help you up your skill level.

I think I may have missed something so that's kinda a whole new playthrough for 1 item, which kinda sucks

It gives the game something extra, but a proper incentive would be 10,000 gamerscore = 1000 MS points or something similar.

You couldn't have gotten it all in one playthrough, anyway. Some score pieces are second run exclusive.

Well if the achievements unlock new weapons, gear, titles, mounts, whatever, depending and are not insanely evil to complete I say yay, but if it requires you hundreds of hours of gameplay, ridiculously hard and only thing they give you is an extra achievement if you complete them I say nay.

They're really awesome and during the game Ill always try to get them like 1000/1000. But if I beat a game, the desire to get more achievements is gone. Especially since there's no real point to most of them
