What has happened and is the madness over?
We negotiated peace after a five hour flamewar. I could've sworn you were present at that point?

Nope, this was quite real. Unfortunately.
I wouldn't really call it a flame war, we had an argument that wasn't getting anywhere really and thus it was in some ways us unfairly forcing them to give trolling responses - as furburt wasn't present to ok any explanations they might give, which we lapped up and responded to. Nothing truly insulting was really said. If we carry on all that would stop. People would only be allowed to discuss with their leader/representative what to say and then at the question time the leaders discuss the goals of their party without attacking other party goals.

Maybe you're right and it wasn't necessarily a flame war, but it was getting out of hand. As it stands currently, Demented Teddy has created a group which aims to stop such arguments such as this from happening, and to enforce some of the policies of both the major parties in the election. If you think about it, that would probably be the best idea.

Considering that the average Escapist has no real direct control over the site and that the Warchief is merely a title, we should all throw our hands in to help the Escapist, not just one small political party.

Anyways, I wouldn't expect the election to continue, as I'm trying to get a mod to make this thread into a stickied thread to teach people what NOT to do during an election.

For nostalgia's sake, though, you were close :p

Considering how rigorously the moderators patrol the forums and considering the post still isn't locked I think we can assume that means they too didn't think things have gotten out of hand. I don't see why we cant carry on the election thou for fun? Plus Teddy's group is mainly to prevent flame wars erupting from what I understand.

I dunno, you could try PMing ColdStorage about what he wants, but I really think we should have this thread stickied.

i don't think it got too out of hand, some nasty words were exchanged but like I said I fully expect people to be adults about it and apoligise to each other.

This thread is but a game, it doesn't need to be stickied, in future those taken part know where the thread is and participants will make sure the leaders actively do what they promised.

Realistically I don't think that would help - as the point is 90% of us involved in this are pretty 'senior' members who are 99% of the time the manifestation of the rules and good conduct. What is so odd about this was a)how organised we all were party because of our experience and b)how caught up we were all in it, despite being concious of what has happened in the past. Our best shot is to watch the forums and if we see something similar say something and hopeful cool the situation down. But in the mean time now we are aware of our mistake I honestly can't see why we can't carry on in a civilised manner or if we want to carry on the silly debating amongst members make a user group called "Electoral debate" and thus not expose the community to it.

Also sorry EUP for any offences given

Lets wait until tomorrow to allow everyone to cool down abit

So everyone, Sunday 30 May starting at 10am, question time, Rules are thus; put forward a question to the party members which only the Premiers can answer. Lets have a good clean fun fight, like a typical question time bitching will ensue, but seriously guys don't take this to seriously just have fun.

Wow, I didn't realise how serious and flamey this had gotten 0_O

I was taking this as a laugh, and my post was only supposed to be a joke.
*Reads earlier pages* Woah....bit out of hand?

EDIT: Hm, according to my internets you have 52 votes.... Strange.

And.....can my vote remain a secret? :)

We are back to a non-serious election :p Its purely for the novelty who wins now really. Apart from attracting people to the various user groups the party's have set up which all want to benefit the escapist.

IDC who you voted for but if you had voted for us I would have given you virtual cookies :p I'll probably still give you one if you want one :D

Edit: Paladin Party merged with mine.

Ah good, I do dislike seeing arguments flaring everywhere on this site.

You're seriously considering continuing this fiasco?

For the sake of the community, which this..."game" was meant to be about, the best course of action is to simply let it die. Facetious or not, popularity contests on the forums are invariably detrimental to all involved. Terminate it before someone ends up like fish food carl during the Escapist Election "game".
How about no, the reason people get banned is there own fault not because of a thread in question, the thread and "game" is perfectly fine, its the human element that creates faults because and this may be a stretch here I'm guessing its because we are human and affable.

I wanted to get away from the "Old Guards" and how they acted, I didn't realise that the "New Guards" were just as capable as the old of bitching about each other, mistake on my part but hey I'm human.

I had several goals in mind when I made this thread and this game, most of them have come to fruition in the short term, so i'm deeming it a success in my mind.
