War is it good: It helps stimulate the economy. Makes use of ALL the equipment the tax payers PAID for. Also, brings nations togeather in a sense of national pride and unity. It brings down evil tyrants(.....rarely however....)

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO........What's your take on war?
Actually, as this current war proves, it does NONE of those things.
What about the Iraq war? It removed Saddam from power. After all...He was committing Genocide on The Kurds ( i think that is how you spell it). You know a tribe found commonly in Northern Iraq. With the gasing and bombing of innocent people...yup no good reason for going to war.

War is sometimes entertaining in video games,
usually because it's not at all realistic and over the top kind of action game-play.
However, I do find that the gaming market is overly saturated with mediocre war games.

"War never changes" - Ron Perlman in Fallout 3.

War as a solution for the economy or other problems...
I think that War is glorified too often.
Other peaceful solutions should be tried before war or battles. I.E. Negotiating

War as a solution is extremely short sighted, the other costs involved just cause different problems,
some of them long term ones.

Mahatma Gandhi - "What difference does it make to the dead, the orphans and the homeless,
whether the mad destruction is wrought under the name of totalitarianism or the holy name of liberty or democracy?"

...And look who we replaced him with? A guy who America chose to be the president, not the people of Iraq. We might have removed a tyrant from the throne of power, but we replaced him with someone that the Iraqi people didn't want there. Being the arrogant pricks we are, we don't care, you either adapt to democracy or get crushed by the Countries that have adapted. There are far worse threats than Saddam Hussein, seeing as how he wasn't threatening to launch nuclear missiles.

War is good for nothing.

It stimulates the economy? As Orwell pointed out, dumping products and weapons into the oceans would do the same, without the waste.

As for settling problems, "Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent."

Instead of throwing bullets and bombs at problems, the world would be a much better place if people used a measure of diplomacy and were open to new and better ideas. War only happens because our leaders find it easier to send people off to get killed in the name of a hunk of dirt.
So war is completely unnecessary. It doesn't create peace, it creates a deep-seated desire for revenge. It is self-perpetuating. It is self-destructive. It is the stupidest concept humans have ever invented: kill everyone until someone with a big shiny hat says "stop."

Some of you seem to believe that war is the single most significant source of scientific advance or the main support of our economy and therefore justifible. We should not depend on war, that merely encourages it, makes it a more often occurence. Many of the rest of you seem to believe that it is a nessecary evil. I am inclined to disagree, I feel that we have never truly attempted peace. The strategy for peace has been deterence, to have bigger and better weapons than any who would oppose us. This is not peace. This is fear. This is a delay tactic. The only way to obtain peace is through unity. This may never occur, but we can still move twoards this goal.

War is in every way the necessary evil. Its been ever since the dawn of recorded history and will remain until the end of this earth.

Agreed. War is often said to be a positive motivator............wow i feel stupid for even typing that. People, you realize we were perfectly capable of creating nuclear energy without having to research it as a weapon first. All we needed was someone to say, hey! what happens if we split an atom. Trust me, if human aggresivness hadn't brought us to that boiling point, human curiosity would have found its way there eventually. I think war is, currently, inevitable. But over time I think humanity will evolve so that we arn't so aggresive and we wilol have a serious bid at peace. Its happening already.

Sorry but its the truth, there is no way to truly end war. There will always be something that sparks conflict. I'm not negative it just the way that things have been throughout world history.

True, it sucks, but it's not like you guys have a choice on the matter. War will forever be a "human trait." If you want, you can think of it as the infallible business. Gun makers/sellers and soldiers have a career that will never be replaced. Doesn't that make joining the Army a bit more appealing?

ofcourse war is bad, there is no other way to see it, its ending lives

but i think people here are saying that positive things can come out of it, not that it is needed for positive things to happen

war is neccesary not only does it emplyee(sp) millions of people as soldiers but the people who make then equipment the new equipment, it creates millions of jobs a year and more people are killed by cancer than resent(sp) wars

oh and the increase in technology you know that nice jet airplane you flew in last week ya the nazi invented that as fighter craft, lifts and pulleys catapults, airplanes were used for war first then afterwards they used them commericially which is nice

war keeps countries together you see what is happening in europe no war for a while and now there is the EU which dont get me wrong is great but it is dissolving the borders which isnt so great no longer will there be french or german or spanish they will be europeans first and foremost which is fine but with the increase of the english language all over the world how long until english is the only acceptible language?

although with the increase in technology also goes the glory of war you no longer hear of people like achilles, seargent york, wellington, George Washington, war has lost its honor

Rant over
sorry if the wording and sentences werent so great
