I played back in high school, about 12 years ago. I've tried every major race and was always a fan of the WAAGH! I had a pretty formidable Ork army.

When I quit the Necron and Tau were just coming into light. Also we played Necromunda a lot, that game rocked.

HOLY EPIC WINSAUCE BATMAN!

Woah that sites cool, just reading about Gorgon is a little funny.
You know they're desperate when they start scavenging Kroot rifles.

And those Genestealers are awesome.
Also I heard somewhere the 'nids are supposedly being chased out by something much, much worse than they are.
Thats like freakin' scary, but not so much in a 'Rawrr big monster comin to getcha' way, but in a more intellectual 'Everything you know will be EATEN' way.
IIRC that one one theory and another was that they had stripped another galaxy clean of biomass and were looking for fresh hunting grounds. Both are equally terrifying.

Tyranid, what else? At least it's trying to be the Zerg;)
Isn't 40k older than starcraft by a decade or 2? ;)
From the poll thread. When were the first tyranids made official by Games Workshop?
Genestealer first crop up in Space Hulk, 1989.
Tyranids first mentioned in Rogue Trader, 1986/7.
Full Codex 1993/4.

'Ere we go! 'Ere we go! 'Ere we go! WAAAAAGH!

Da Orks is da best. Da Orks is never beaten' in a fight: If we win, we win. If we die, we die, so it don'na count. An' if we run, we can gun back for annuver go, see?

So yeah, Flash Gits, Weirdboyz and of course Da Boys for the win.

Tau is definitely my choice. If not them, then Orks. I'd like to have WH40k as a hobby. It's too bad they are robbing people with those prices. They're senseless. Years ago bought a starter kit -like package with a friend though. I love Dawn Of War though. As a contrast, DoW II is terrible.

Tau's always remind me of TAO-TAO.

i play black templars and tend to field only 10 infantry in two five man squads. my total army is less then 30 models. i use alot of tanks and two dreadnaghts along with some swordbreatheren for some added oomf. i have a bit of trouble holding objectives so was considering getting a tie in imperial guard army with over 100 infantry.

by the way landraider crusader ftw! (19 shots per turn 16 twinlinked lol)

Heh, my marine buddy refers to me and my Tau buddy as "the filthy zenos".

Another side note along with not being able to edit the poll, my reply button does nothing.
All 'Reply' does is take you to the comment section. Hitting 'Quote' will allow you to quote somebody and reply to them properly.

Also, yes, you and your Tau buddy are filthy xenos-lovers.
tau are dirty space-communists, idunno there's something fishy bout them

I really feel like their prices are the sort of thing that can be reduced to entice more people to play it. I know I've had random sprees of buying 2 or 3 boxes, then stopping because I just burned through $100+

Marines! or "Turn up and ruin a purple guy's day with an Assault cannon"

Oh yes, and my HQ unit, Mephiston, Chief Librarian of the Blood Angels, will single handedly make your entire army late for dinner. Very late. I 1v1'ed Nightbringer with him and won :D

If I had the money/time/friends who play the tabletop game then I would probably play Tyranids. Endless swarms of giant insects coming to consume all life in the galaxy? Yeah!!

Although I don't subscribe to the theory that the 'nids are being pursued by something more powerful, it doesn't flow right. Their tactics used so far by all 3 hive fleets act as tests and scouts, testing the galaxies defences before the main fleet gets here. Also it's been said they are actively being drawn here by the Astronomicon, which if they were being pursued by something worse wouldn't make any sense. It's an invasion, plain and simple.

Of course that then means that they must've wiped out all life in whatever galaxy they came from last, possibly more than one galaxy, which is utterly terrifying.

Chaos Daemons. Not the Chaos Marines, as much fun as they are, but true Daemons. Why? Masses of diversity in modelling, painting, and play-styles between the gods, the brilliantly evil method of deploying (Read as - In the most inhumanly irritating places possible), the awesome models, and that glorious fluff.

We serve the Star Gods, with the Dragon as our prime. We are Necron. We are underpowered and massively due a new codex (rumoured for halfway through next year). Painted right we look bad ass. We are also not yet another army in Power Armour.

Mars hungers.
