I was playing dragon age origins and it got me thinking. What is the most common class and why in a fantasy RPG?

I always got for a warrior, sword and shield tank type because it's normaly a pretty simple role for my first play though. Then I move onto a Rogue, bow and arrow type because I have to most fun with them. The thing is I never play a mage as I like to get stuck in there (even if it's just a back up blade as a rogue) + I've just never found mages as a fun set up to play.

Yes, I know there are loads of classes I could put in the poll so I have summed it up a bit.

I chose Rogue, and I'll specialize into Bard most likely. Dual daggers.

I wouldn't say there is a "Common" class, as there (on your list) is so many to choose from, I might say healers are slightly less common, but other than that, there about equal. I tend to go for Rouge/Assassin as there just plain bad ass, despite having the health bar of paper.

The most common class is probably the sword and shield wielding warrior.

[sub]I prefer two handed swords/axes though...[/sub]

I'd go for rouge/assassin because the best kind of fight is the one where your enemy doesn't know you are there...

I always choose...

The Machine Gunner! A slightly overweight guy with bandolier across his chest and belt-fed MG42 as his primary!

...

...

Okay okay okay. I can't really participate, because i very rarely play fantasy RPGs. And even if i do, i always pick the class i feel like playing as at this very moment. But i still wanted to say something witty.

I see about a million 'rogue' types in any MMO i have ever played. They're ridiculously popular.

Where's the option for "Depends what I feel like doing"? I mean in DDO, I have a wizard, two melee combatants (a paladin and a fighter) and a Ranger.

Assassin type all the way, I just feel like a badass when your dressed in Black, sneaking in the shadows with a pair of snarling daggers ready to stab into someones neck. Also I feel as if there is more of a inherent history and background for assassins than warriors or mages. Assassins always have this mysterious aura about them and usually you can be part of a sect or brotherhood of assassins that is just awesome, makes them seem alot more human and interesting.

In Dragon Age I'm usually a Warrior (I play the different weapon styles equally). Then a mage who acts as my tank and damage dealer thanks to arcane warrior and blood magic specializations.

Warrior with magic back up. Every RPG and JRPG, this is the best way to get through the game. Playing the old Deal and Heal.

I like dual wield rogue, I find it more fun being up close but not taking all the hits like a warrior.

Mage is fun sometimes, but it depends if i'm good with them or not.

Usually a dual-wielding rogue, sometimes a warrior with a two-hand weapon. Almost never a mage, unless I feel like playing one for some odd reason. Don't like shields either. Basically it depends on the game and mood, but it's pretty much always a rogue/assassin/thief-type of a class.
