Mage all the way. I love it when I get to level up all the destructive spells and massacre everything in my path. Most of the times there's no need for any companions (unless there's a boss fight).

I'm a Mage for now. Thinking of going Rogue next time. Stupid question, but can non Mage classes use spells like heal?

I went with assassin type rogue, having played a rogue for about 3 years in wow, and loving it (those days are gone now).

Is it weird to be a blood magic wielding healer on hard for my first playthrough?

I was playing dragon age origins and it got me thinking. What is the most common class and why in a fantasy RPG?

I always got for a warrior, sword and shield tank type because it's normaly a pretty simple role for my first play though. Then I move onto a Rogue, bow and arrow type because I have to most fun with them. The thing is I never play a mage as I like to get stuck in there (even if it's just a back up blade as a rogue) + I've just never found mages as a fun set up to play.

Yes, I know there are loads of classes I could put in the poll so I have summed it up a bit.
Back in the day I loved playing as Mages, I did in every MMORPG I played.

WoW introduced me to the awesomeness of Rogues with dual weapons, sneaking in the shadows.

However, my obsession with Orcs has lead me to the love of Warriors with massive 2 handed Axes. Now that's the only class I play (which in most games isn't very welcomed, Warriors are 'meant to tank'" But screw that, I hit things with my large axe and they die ^^

Dual-wielding Dwarf warrior, be-otches! Can take down an abomination before you can say "Take down that abomination!"

Always go for the caster type in an RPG. Especially Dragon Age: Origins. Blood Mage/Spirit Healer with Cone of Cold, Crushing Prison and the Sleep/Nightmare combo = Gamebreaking.

I always liked going the Warrior with a two handed sword or axe, the problem is that almost every MMO game I've played the warrior is the weakest class. Then the other thing is they are usually useless since everybody wants you to tank and you don't compare to other damage dealers like the rouge and wizard. Every MMO is flawed!

Rogue with two blades. Can hold your own in a fight and use all sorts of items. Attack from the front or behind. Quite an adaptable character.

I like warriors because they're the most simplistic, and don't really require too much preparation to be good.

That, and they're heavily armored.

An AOE and healing mage is king. Although I do like dual wielding so that is my second choice. Probably rogue so I won't need to worry about dragging one along.

For the most part of DAO i was charging around as a merry little dwarf with a War axe bigger than Alistair. I tend to go for the Warrior classes as i like to get right in there, normally results in my limbs flying off in a blood orgy but i find it satisfying as a warrior. Especially when your axe is buried in the head of the Arch Demon and you have a big grin on your face. :D

I got it yesterday and I've been playing as an assassin like rogue (two blades). I've always liked the rogue way of playing, attacking weak points rather than just wading into battle like a tank or standing at the back healing. However, i'd like to play as a AoE mage on my second playthrough.

One question, can you continue playing after you complete the main story?

I have always picked the spell caster class first in every RPG I've ever played. I don't know why, it just seems to suit my style. Honestly in DA:O I find a Rogue or Warrior would probably fit me better. The Mage class is a bit too scatter-brained for me I think. Lots and lots of utility, but seems like my damage is lower than the Rogues/Warriors in my party.
