Poll: We just doomed ourselves

By being obessed with 2012. People are going to cause the end of the world. Millions will be looting,killing and pillaging. We are boned unless we do something! Do anything! The whole goddamn world will end if you don't!

Basically, are we pretty much doomed ourselves by now, or is there a chance we might survive?

If people are that simple then yes, we're fucked, but not because of some idiotic prediction, more due to humans in great numbers coming together to form one panicking and brainless mass.

I do believe that on what-ever-the-hell day in 2012 there will be mass panic/looting etc but the majority of SANE people will sit in there homes and laugh at the idiots on the day after the day the world is supposed to "end".

And I will never be able to be blamed for lying in that statement cause if I'm wrong we are all dead anyway!

If the world doesn't end then we will survive but probably in some kind of Mad Max Road Warrior type scenario where everybody has panicked and launched the nukes!

it is a fundamental quality of man that when faced with extinction any alternative is preferable so no I dont think that 2012 will be the end of us if everyone just locks there doors and stays inside it will all blow over and we can get on with planning the next doomsday theory

To prevent the mass hysteria we "reveal" some ancient nostradamus book that has been lost for years where he predicts how the world will end. This document will of course be a clever forgery pointing to.... Easter Island as the epicenter of evil. The whole world decides to stop the evil head things from destroying the world by nuking and everybody feels like we destroyed some major threat. Then we just have to hope there isn't some real doomsday thing we were supposed to discover.
