I am going to be hording up in my houses basement with my firearms.

Why you ask. Not the dooms day shit no.

There are a lot of fucking idiots in the world some live near me. Some live in my town.

I will be boarding up my doors and windows not because of fucking angels from haven, not because of tilde waves ( live in west Texas and there is no water above ground here), not the fear of a race war, not of nukes, winter blizzard, plage or some other from of mass death. But because teenagers are stupid and so are a lot of adult humans and will think the end of the world will happen thus they think they can kill and take what they want.

So there I will be hunkering down that day because of humanity

What would be the use of looting, killing and pillaging be if you're gonna die anyway?
Except for the fun of it of course.

By being obessed with 2012. People are going to cause the end of the world. Millions will be looting, killing and pillaging. We are boned unless we do something! Do anything! The whole goddamn world will end if you don't!

Basically, are we pretty much doomed ourselves by now, or is there a chance we might survive?
Is this sarcasm? If not, you may remember lots of people thought the world would end at the start of 2000. I don't think millions were killed by looting and pillaging then...

I don't honestly recall any riots occurring when the year 2000 rolled in. In fact, I actually remember a whole lot of celebrating and partying.

With that in mind, I have full confidence that general human apathy will cause only loonies to do anything radical when this date comes round.
If you remember it, you wern't partying properally HAHAHA...im funny. Really.

I am not funny.

Also, yes. Even most conspiracy nuts ranting about 2012 don't REALLY believe the world is going to end. And for those who do, why would you break stuff and loot everything when you, "know" you're just going to die, and never enjoy your spoils? My personal vote is to offer the most hardcore 2012ers the opportunity to sell us there house in exchange for $1000 and directions to a prostitute. They get one last enjoyable night before they are destroyed. After all, they have no use for there house when its all going to be destroyed, right? Jokes on us...

There will be no looting or pillaging... the world will keep going as it did the day before and the day before that. Nobody takes this seriously. Well at least not enough people to make it a problem...

The reason this "Ancient" calendar ended isn't because it's gonna kerplode, it's because it's not infinite.
Best argument so far.

Well, that would be because I was roughly 13 at the time. There were a lot of party-goers in the streets of my hometown that night.

I hadn't thought of that, actually. I doubt it will get that intense, but there probably will be plenty of crime and such when the time comes. That'll be annoying.

Meanwhile, I'll be playing video games.

Why does the end of the world have to be a bad thing? According to the Mayan Calendar* the "end of the world" simply referred to the end of a period of time that marked new advancements in technology, i.e. the Industrial Age, the Information Age, etc. This is were the term "third-world country" was derived from. I think that it's extremely narcissistic of people to imply that the world will end if the human race dies off. (Which is what they're basically referring to when they talk about the end of the world.) We humans have done nothing but rape this planet and its other inhabitants for the length of our whole existence. The world is not going to end if we die off, it anything, it will prosper.

[small]*It's ironic that I referenced the Mayan Calendar, because apparently it's the cause for the entire 2012 hysteria, and that little tidbit of information completely disproved it. Shhh! Don't tell Hollywood...[/small]

Y2K was supposed to stop all computers because people thought they'd think it was 1900 when no PC's existed and would shut down. A computer would just think instead of 99 it was 00 and wouldn't care.

12/12/2012 is based on the ancient Mayan's who did know a lot about astrology, but that is about as far as it goes. 12/12/2012 will be just like 6/6/2006 another meaningless number day I'll probably waste on video games.

Don't worry, I've still got eighty-eight reasons [http://www.scribd.com/doc/14080011/88-Reasons-Why-The-Rapture-Will-Be-in-1988] why the end is in 1988. You can't argue with divine revelation!

If you really believe that then your as stupid as the people saying the world is going to end.

I'm personally looking forward to 2012 and the many many bars that will no doubt be having 'end of the world' parties and such.

People cried about 2000. When that failed, they started crying about 2012 even louder. 2012 will pass by and people will find another dooms-date to prophetize about.

It is no less moronic than being a Christian.

Really?

If people are that simple then yes, we're fucked, but not because of some idiotic prediction, more due to humans in great numbers coming together to form one panicking and brainless mass.
Yea people are legitimately scared. Who Remembers Y2K or Orson Wells' Broadcast of War of the Worlds?

Im just scared of a world where the Earths beautiful Oceans, landscape, and creatures are transformed into horrible CGI pixels...

We're going to wake up and it will be just the same as every other fucking day we've survived. It's just a day, nothing special about it. After the 21st all the gullible dumbfucks are going to have to find something else to be scared over. I'm sure our government will find something for you so don't worry...

I didn't answer your poll because you didn't put one that says "2012 is a load of bullshit."...
