Your next fad should be Mad Scientists.

Repeat after me: "Foolish minion! Bwa ha ha ha haaa!!!"
Mad Scientists is another good one, but that's kind of already in the world of nerdiness with 'SCIENCE!', multiple games based on the concept, Venture Bros, Dr. Insano, James Bond, etc.

What I'm looking for is something that hasn't been explored enough, but could still easily become something awesome. Something that is on the verge, ready to be embraced by nerds everywhere!

And if you can look at the picture of Dinosaurs with lasers and armor and not think that can become such a thing, you sir have no soul.
Please, that's obviously the work of a Mad Scientist.

Dinosaurs Valid idea, dinosaurs are pretty awesome. Although, it's been quite some time since Jurrasic Park was released, and dinosaurs since then have not made many inroads into culture or any sub-culture. Dinosaurs are awesome...but do people really care??

Mutants
If you mean as in X-Men mutants, then yes this would appear to be a likely contender. The X Men films and comic books have always been popular with nerd's, and secondly it also has Patrick Stewart, who is already a well established internet meme.

Samurai
A possible extension of the ninja meme perhaps? Still, i think my problem here is that Samurai are noble, honourable warrors, and i don't think nerds can relate to that. Look at the other types of warrors that nerds relate to- pirates and ninja's, the Ninja's are dark, shadowy and mysterious, and the pirates are rougues outside society. Samurai are not mysterious, shadowy or rougeish.

Scots Possible choice, the Scots seem to have that innate quality of kick-ass awesomeness, just look at characters like Soap MacTavish.. he must be Scottish! There are plenty of jokes surrounding the Scot's as well, perhaps things like kilts and haggis creatures could become sub-memes?

Gladiators These chaps could sit well within the nerd psyche. They are rebel's, they are lone fighters, and damn good ones too, so they fill the check box of being social outsiders. They are also forced to fight to the death before the masses, for the amusement of mainstream society. I think perhaps nerds could relate to that.

Alan Cumming Who?

Luchadors Who?
I googled them this time..they seem like wrestlers. I think the problem with these guys are that they are all about over-the-top machoness with big huge arms and chests. I'm not to sure how many nerds would want to relate to that physice.

Really though, you carn't just all come together and vote on a new meme like it's the UN or something, only 4chan has the power to create memes.

Wow, I chose scots, knowing that that was obviously the best answer, but I sincerely thought it would have the lowest vote count. I was pleasantly surprised.

Scots are really running away with this!

Upon further examination I think I understand the psychology behind some of these contenders.

I was trying to pick things that could be destructive, overpowering, violent examples of counter culture for which a nerd such as myself can fantasize becoming and thus destroying all the Philistines and bullies in the world. And Alan Cumming.

The things that most represent these this idea of violence, counter-culture, and badassery are the things that have the highest vote count. That's why Vikings, Mad Scientists, and even Dragons are also good choices.

For the poll I think Scots really do embody that quite well, at least all the Scots I've met. You want proof? Go to any sporting event where Scotland is a contender. My advice: fucking hide or become one of them. They will decapitate you.

Here, I'll start:

I initially voted Luchadors [http://www.rwongphoto.com/RW2609_web.jpg], because they are awesome and cheesy in their attempts to achieve real-life superhero status. However, after reading the whole discussion, I would prefer to vote Other, for VIKINGS. Especially Viking Metal.

The Golden Age of Piracy lasted from the 1650s to the 1720s, and it ended because people learned how to fight and beat the pirates. The Viking Age lasted from the 790s into the 1100s, and it ended because the Vikings became Christians and turned into Crusaders. Vikings > Pirates.

The Age of Dinosaurs lasted 160 million years, so by that logic Dinosaurs > Everything.

Viking Metal is pretty wicked, though.

1) Dinosaurs were always a big part of Nerd culture.

2) Spartans will be the next thing. I mean, look at them!

Why does my mind immediately scream "Manbearpig!"? Must be because of the global warming thread just up the page reminding me of Al Gore.
