Here in Britain, Public and Private mean pretty much the same thing. It's weird.

And writing this also feels weird due to the insane amount of Visual Basic I've been staring at over the last week.
I hated Visual Basic. There were several instances in which it could not reliably add numbers; I had to jump through hoops to make it work. I feel for you.

I go to a public school in Canada, but I did go to a private school for tutoring. I also volunteered there for their basic computer skills class, for which I recieved no volunteer hours because "private schools don't count."[footnote]The only difference between a public and private school is that if you suck at teaching in a private school, you get fired, but if you suck in a public school, they promote you to head of the Math department. Eleven hours of my time is eleven hours of my time, I think I deserve some credit.[/footnote]

I was raised by my parents, and I went to a State Primary School and a State High School, in Victoria, in Australia.

Public schools are owned and ran by private individuals, members of the public if you will, instead of being for the public like in the USA. Paying individuals can go to these schools.

State schools are run by the state, and are the ones that are free for the public.
I believe it's actually from the misguided and out-of-touch view of upper-class rich peoplein the past that it was "public" in the sense of being 'democratic', in it's way, by being open to anyone of any social class (or IQ), admission depending purely upon money, which is clearly available to everyone.

Public school in Michigan. Aside from the various people who need a good punch in the face and the lack of funding, it's okay...I guess.

In Britain I went to a State school which is the equivalent of a Public school in the states. Back when I graduated my school had a pass rate at 16 of 27.6% which is shit considering most private schools have a pass rating of around 99-100%.

I still managed to go to college and university which I am proud of considering most people from working class families don't even go to college.

Public school my whole life i liked it minus the jerks but even private will have those. I personally don't know what the difference is but i hear private is tougher, and or makes to smarter but idk.

Private school in America. Though, it's cheap because it's a Catholic one (at least those seem to be cheaper in the area). Since I am not Catholic I feel like I'm being a rebel and going against what "the man" wants me to. HAHAHA YES! I am immune to your petty desire for me to be Catholic! Though, I am forced to take religion... a fair trade off for cheaper tuition though.

Really? Mine seems to be working fine, except that whoever designed the API for using databases must have had a lobotomy shortly beforehand. Seriously, it takes 7 lines to get a single item out of a SQL database, and that's after having entered the data using SQL script, found the connection string, and created the appropriate data set and data adapter.

If that seems reasonable to you, then you should probably go and work at Microsoft.

I put "Public (Britain)" because I went to a state primary school but at 13 I got a scholarship to a private school. So I figure I was "raised" at state school but I was educated at a private school.

Public School, in England.

Fuck Private Schools!
What's wrong with Private schools?
I dunno, I met a couple of people from Private Schools. Condescending, know-it-all pricks.
But that's only because we're better than you.

Kidding of course. tbh there are private schools and then there are schools like Harrow and Eton where they're almost all old-money, ignorant, conservative-voting, upper class twits. My private school was a bit more middle class. We even had people who thought they were "street".

I was at a very good public school here in germany a "gymnasium" as it is called here, has nothing to do with a gym, well it had one
The Gymnasium (German pronunciation: [ɡʏmˈnaːzi̯ʊm]; German plural: Gymnasien), in the German education system, is a type of secondary school with a strong emphasis on academic learning, comparable with the British former grammar school system or with prep schools in the United States. The student attending a Gymnasium is called "Gymnasiast" (German plural: "Gymnasiasten"). Public (state-funded) Gymnasia exist alongside parochial Gymnasia and private Gymnasia. Private Gymnasia often charge tuition fees, though many also offer scholarships. Tuition fees are lower than in comparable European countries.
i had a great time there.

According to PISA its the "best" schoolform in the world. at least it was on first rank

I was in public (Britain) education my entire life, I don't think there has been anyone, who was taught in a private school.

Went to a public school for the first six years of my schooling, went to a private school for my first two years of high school, and now I'm back in a public school, even though it's selective and therefore more 'government' than 'public.'

Public, in Europe, in Romania.
And no way is it worth it to go to a private school here, because the costs are just... well I heard they're really big, that's all. And the differences here between public and private is that at private you get cleaner benches and some free corndogs and that's about it.

Private Catholic french school! in Canada

Wow, am i gonna get hated or what ? :p

I loved it though, not at the time but with prospective i can see why they were so harsh, 80% at that school was considered a failure...
