You take random human beings and stick them in a jungle, and they will be out preformed by monkeys. Monkeys are better adapted to the jungle than humans. Therefore, by your logic, monkeys are "more evolved" than humans.
They would not have been, as they'd know how to make weapons.
Or just use a rock or something.

And my argument is the same as yours, I'm just saying that you can call it "more evolved" instead of "better adapted by ones surroundings"
No, it's not. Because you're ignoring the context of surroundings entirely.

There's no "more evolved" because you'd die outside of the environment you're suited to. That's why we're so dependent on housing, agriculture, and fossil fuels. Without these limited resources we exploit, we'd be maladapted to the environment we live in.

If you woke up in the jungle tomorrow, you'd die.

OP: calm down, lest ye be labeled a nerdy nerdy nit-picker. We are animals. And our sentience allows us to CHOOSE to be better than the others, but that doesn't mean that we always do.

So, if you're drunk outta your mind, trying to fight everything with a penis and fuck everything with a pussy, spilling your beverage/food all over yourself, and in general pissing everyone off, and I kindly ask you to stop behaving like an animal, it's because your behavior is no longer reminiscent of a higher life form.

Geez, if you're gonna engage in such banal nitpickery, at least be right!

Depends on you're definition of an animal. Geneticaly speaking, there is nothing to differentiate us from any other species (each species has its own genome, but they're all written in the same language). That said, we are clearly miles ahead of other species, and our goals and concerns have gone beyond the rather one track imperatives set by genes. Other species are far more intelligent and self aware than most people give them credit, but I don't see them visiting the moon or developing a theory for evolution any time soon.

No, not really.
I'd know to get food, and if there's animals around, there is food around.
A water source shouldn't be hard to find.

And no, you wouldn't die outside of the environment you were suited to.
Bums weren't suited to live outdoors, and they do.
So do campers.
Do they die?

No

Plus, these aren't people entirely cut off from our modified environments. They dig through trash, bring food with them, bring shelter, and in the case of campers, they're only visiting.

We are obviously animals by classification however I believe we have several traits that raise us above all others. When it comes to the sayings you mentioned 'animals' is used to mean 'base', 'without thought or manners', 'without regard to human social convention'.
