Ages ago, my friend thought it would be nice to ask out the guy for me, by text.
Blood was shed that night.
edit: Relax. If she says yes, awesome. If she says no, dont beat yourself up. I would give more advice but ill wait til you post if she says no or yes or whatever.
Must... resist... urge... to... make... period... joke...

Good luck if you do.
Thanks!
I might just join in. Hmm, I already know 2 people that would say yes quicker than I'm typing this. They aren't particularly attractive but they are equally as friendly and funny.

All I can say is good luck and may the force be with you. I have only really had 2 girlfriends. And actually didn't go on a date with either of them. My first date would be tomorrow actually. I have asked girls out in the "Do you want to be my girlfriend?" way but not actually out till today.

( Off topic YEAAAA 100th post :) )

Of course I remember. She said no. She is still my best friend and I'm hanging out with her tonight. I'm so miserable.
You are not, I have the same "relationship" with a girl and I totally understand it.

Ooooh, text is always bad. I remember I once asked a girl out by Facebook message, though admittedly I was quite young then (I was about 15, I think...). As far as I'm aware though, she never even noticed the message in her inbox, as it was never mentioned by her or me whenever we saw each other after that. Oddly enough I'll be seeing her again in two weeks for the first time in two years...

Anyway, I remember the first girl I ever asked out was in primary school, and I was eight years old. She said no. Then she said yes. Then she had to leave the school because her family were moving away. It was a very awkward time, I have to admit. Especially since usually I'm crap at asking girls out, the one time I did manage to enter into a (relatively) successful relationship it was with a girl who lives 300 miles away in Scotland. We're still Facebook friends and whatnot, but it kind of fizzled out with the distace.

Seriously, Fate has a really black sense of humour when it comes to me and romance... :(

I'm begining to calm down, mabey this let out some of my feelings, that or some of your statements.
If this is the usual set of "Wow my heart's beating too quickly" and "Wow what the hell have I done; was it a good idea or not? I don't know, oh God please help" kind of feelings, then relax. Everyone gets those. It's a result of sticking all your emotions out on display for another person to see, which isn't something that happens all that often.

Yeah don't worry about it, worry about when she says yes and you have to impress her on the first date O_O
GAHHH! when that comes, their will be another thread...
Just tell her you have an account on the Escapist, every woman falls for that.
You know what that means? If she doesn't then she's actually a man!

I have never really asked a girl out and don't plan on doing, so yeah, so much for my story.

Why yes I remember the first and currently only time I asked a girl out. We've been good friends for over a decade and I had a thing for her for most of those years. Back in January I finally asked her out in person and she said yes. 'Twas amazing except for how something would keep coming up each weekend until about a month later when she got two of our friends to inform me that she'd changed her mind. Hopefully if you get a yes it will actually lead to a date.

First time's always the hardest. This is true for pretty much anything in life. And yes, it's unnerving, but you know, "no risk no gain". If you never take a chance, you'll always fail for sure, you fail by default... Worse case scenario you try and fail, which is the same result as never trying, so you can only get better or stay the same.

My views on that are simple: Go for it, you lose nothing. Just stay away from my girl, or I'll gut you.

...I'm not kidding and I'm not being metaphorical, I will turn you into a human version of those paper snowflake things.

Sounds like my situation, but I haven't asked her yet. It's awkward asking a friend...

Yes, she strung me along with "I'm busy" for way too long before I asked her if I should just give up. She had just gotten out of a long relationship and said she needed time to be single. She was dating one of the people on my top 5 idiots ive met list, and on my top 3 people ive hated list 2 days later. Sooo glad she did that, the more time that passes the more I learn that she is a ***** in every way and they deserve eachother, but it still hurt like hell at the time.

Just about 30 minuites ago, I sent a message to this girl I have liked sense I was in the 5th grade... This message was asking her out.
I don't know you and I don't know this girl. What I do know is that generally speaking girls do not appreciate being asked out via text message.
She will most likely refuse - unless she really likes you.

Even if you get rejected, don't give up! Move on to another lovely lady, and this time try
to be more bold and ask her out directly (face-to-face).
Well, (I didn't text her) This was the only way to comunicate with her, I will probably not see her again unless she says yes. Riddle me how else I could have asked her, STALK HER??? Seriosly though, was their another way I could have done this?
