Expert+. Go big or go home. Sometimes, going home is pretty tempting. Like in FPS, since I suck at those.

I usually play about half a game on normal then start again on the hardest difficulty just to try to get more time out of it.

When I was a bit younger I just played everything on easy, I was just trying to rack up completed games on my lady-repelling belt but now I'm in it more for the experience (which I feel is improved by the higher difficulty levels.)

My first game was Contra; and one of my all time favorites was Mega Man 2. Modern "hard modes" are pretty weak by comparison. I think I fall into the "Old School" category.

Normal.
Because it's Normal.
Playing on easy usually(there are some exceptions, of course) isn't challenging.
Playing on hard or anything higher is for masochists.
At least in my oppinion.

EDIT: This reminds me, that I usually play racing games on hard, because anything lower tend to be quite boring.

hard, because i find most games try and hold my hand and walk me through the steps too much if i go on anything lower...

this though on games with no difficulty setting you are kinda stuck on normal (in some cases hard and in more cases easy...)

I play on easy. If I play on harder difficulties, I start dying/losing and get mad. Games are supposed to be fun, not anger-inducing. If i eventually get better, I will bump up the difficulty to give myself a new challenge.

Depends on the game.
Usually start with normal and move up from there (if the game deserves several play-throughs).

It depends of the game, but I usually play on the normal difficulty setting.

However, sometimes if I find normal to be a bit easy then I'll move up to hard on the 2nd play-through.
If it's really easy after an hour or so then I'll restart and play-through the game on hard.

Or if I'm playing an FPS co-op with someone more talented than myself,
then I'll play on a harder difficulty setting than I would normally.

I play on normal, and if I really liked the game, then I replay it on the harder difficulty settings, otherwise, I play on normal.

Depends a lot on the genre, but usually Normal. I want a bit of a challenge, but dying/losing a lot is really not my cup of tea.
