It annoys the hell out of me IF I am playing a coop game with said uncare-er and IF I haven't played the game before. Often enough I need to see that exposition to know what the hell to do.

It's happened before that my "team-mate" skips through the cut scenes and then we get into the game and don't know what we're supposed to do ... and he gets all pissed off. Makes me want to feed him my shoe.

Otherwise, no. Don't care.

I don't care. One, it's not my business to say how they should enjoy the game. Two, the plot is rarely necessary to play the game. And three, the plot is not the most important part of the game anyway. To be honest, I've never really cared all that much about the plot. I'll listen, but I would never say, "I would highly recommend this game. Sure, the gameplay's worse than performing a self apendectomy, but the plot more than makes up for it."

If people miss out on the experience that is their problem, and if they complain afterwards(as everyone likes to) I can simply ignore their meaningless ramblings.

I play my games for the Plot.

I like to play my games to see how the story unfolds and what i can enjoy in playing through the story but when i see LP's of people skipping through cut scenes i can sometimes agree with people wanting to skip cut scenes if they have played the game before but if it's their first time then i would suggest not doing that as most games these days revolve around open or linear storylines and you should probably take interest in what the game has to offer other than "bang bang boom headshot!".

If you do a LP and you state you have played the game before and give you viewers a heads up on cut scene skipping then that's fair, but if you skip them some viewers may be slightly put off of your interest in playing the game.

What should I care how someone else wants to play? It doesn?t affect me and they can play however they like.
My brother can be a little annoying sometimes, he doesn?t really care about anything aside from multiplayer in games but to each their own. And before people generalise he isn?t stupid nor does he have a short attention span and he reads allot of books. He just doesn?t care about the plot in games and prefers to play against or wiith people not AI.

If it's just to show off the gameplay, it's fine. But if it's a Let's Play (which are supposed to show everything, or at least the main stuff) or a video walkthrough, it gets on my nerves because the story/cutscene is the only thing that I can enjoy, seeing as I don't get to actually play the game.

Well, more power to them, I guess. Makes no sense to me whatsoever, but then neither does synchronised swimming.

Each to their own, I suppose. I would imagine that everyone plays games to enjoy themselves, so it's not really up to you or anyone else to tell them how to do that. Also:

I have now seen 2 people on youtube both doing a Dead Space 2 LP, both female, wanting to skip the first ever cut scene for it (I am just glad they can't), and they haven't even played the first game either. They have also done no research into the games, so they are totally brand new to this franchise (not to mention they look like they are new to gaming).

So not only are they doing it the wrong way by playing DS2 first, (but I guess I can forgive that.. just about), they don't even care about the amount of work everyone has put in to make such games with plots.
Really? You slate people for this? Everyone has to get into a game series somehow, you know. Look, I'm not trying to get on your case here, but it seems you're overreacting on this one. I got into TES with Daggerfall, are you telling me that my TES experience was wrong because I didn't play Arena first? I've got another one, I played Fallout 2 before playing the original. And whilst we're bringing out all our dirty secrets, I would rate Red Dead Redemption as one of my favourite games, but I've never played Red Dead Revolver. These things didn't lessen my experience of these particular series, and I really don't think you should be looking negatively on people just because they arrived a little late to the party.

I clicked annoying.

It's a shame that people have no care for a plot. It's like watching only the action scenes of a bond film. sure youre going to get whats going on sorta and you may still enjoy it, but why the hell would you purposefully edit out content thats in there for a reason.

The absolute WORST case of this I have ever seen happened right in front of me and I nearly straight up lost it. Someone borrowing another friend's copy of Bioshock 2 (which I didn't really enjoy myself) WITHOUT. PLAYING. THE. FIRST. ONE. I'm sorry but just no. That shouldn't happen.

Don't care unless they start talking/ranting about it to me.

The reason I dislike it is because sometimes they don't even give the plot a chance. To them it's just a pause between shooting stuff.

But if you're LP'ing and don't research it, don't show everything and don't play through everything, you are doing it wrong.

My brother play games for the gameplay. I can respect that but when playing Gears of War 2, he displayed no emotion (when I came damn close to tearing up) when Dom gets reunited with Maria and I asked him why, he said "wait, who's the woman, again?" I almost died of disbelief.

Plot is important to a game, which is why I hate games that don't even attempt at making a good story (*COUGH*CoD*COUGH*). Unless the gameplay is too superb to ignore, then whatever.

I can't really comprehend the attitude. When somebody tells me they don't care for plot, I usually just avoid said person, lest I start a bitter argument. I play most games for the sole reason of finding a decent plot, it's interesting to see games try new things, as rare as it is. So I find that I take personal offence when a person outright ignores a well constructed plot...

I don't slate, I just get annoyed if they don't care for the games before the newest and shiniest. Not if they are just new and don't realize that you need to play the other games to understand a heavy plot. You know, it's like watching (or reading) LOTR backwards. I don't say anything to people though. It's just something that bugs me.

I once made the mistake of playing AC2 first before even playing AC. I never usually do that though. And I will never do it again. It was a total spoiler and I couldn't understand what was going on properly. I couldn't get into the plot or characters properly as I was always confused. I didn't even know what the animus actually was.

So, with games that have a heavy plot, yet you don't care for the first game because it isn't brand new and shiny, yes it does annoy me.

I did it wrong, I had no idea what was going on, it was a big mistake. I now regret that because I know I would have enjoyed the series more if I played the first AC, well, first. So yes, I did do it wrong too. I should have played the other game first. Then I would have understood.

Don't twist my words.

The only time it bothers me is when I try to get someone who's big draw in videogaming is multiplayer, and when I try and draw them into a single-player game with an amazing story, they can't get out of Attention Deficit mode. They wanna chit-chat during the cut scenes; this isn't a MP lobby; STFU and listen to the game! They want to try and exact violence on the first and every unarmed NPC they see; Christ, not every game is GTA; sometimes people are integral characters in a story or mere scenary and NOT meant to be hood ornaments or cannon fodder! They want to dictate the pacing of the game refusing to play their characters part of the story, ie: running and gunning when the mood/point in the story merits stealth, etc. Or the WORST, when the game doesn't give them an explosion or firefight within the first 48 seconds, they lose interest and fall back on any of the tactics I listed above. AAARGH!!

But, as long as I'm not trying to engage someone with something a bit more nuanced and mentally involving than the grade school playground of multiplayer, I couldn't care less what they choose to play; hell, that usually ensures the GREAT games see price drops sooner!

I'd have to tend to agree with you a bit on this one. When a series establishes itself on its story and someone goes into expecting a great story, it helps to start at the beginning if it's a viable option. Fortunately, nowadays, as properties are seeing multiplatform releases and oldies are getting re-vamped, devs are taking that into consideration and making these latest installments introductorily-friendly. I can't wait to get my hands on the new Deus Ex; never played a Deus Ex before in my life; thank gawd this one's a prequel!

But generally, folks who jump in at the middle usually aren't going in with high expectations, so I don't fault them for missing out on what they weren't looking for in the first place. If they ARE expecting greatness, le tthem take their lumps in the form of spoilers and misunderstanding.

Doenst bother me in the slightest- people play games for different reasons and no one way is more valid then the other- getting all het up about it is plain ridiculous.
