Each to their own, I suppose. I would imagine that everyone plays games to enjoy themselves, so it's not really up to you or anyone else to tell them how to do that. Also:

I have now seen 2 people on youtube both doing a Dead Space 2 LP, both female, wanting to skip the first ever cut scene for it (I am just glad they can't), and they haven't even played the first game either. They have also done no research into the games, so they are totally brand new to this franchise (not to mention they look like they are new to gaming).
So not only are they doing it the wrong way by playing DS2 first, (but I guess I can forgive that.. just about), they don't even care about the amount of work everyone has put in to make such games with plots.
Really? You slate people for this? Everyone has to get into a game series somehow, you know. Look, I'm not trying to get on your case here, but it seems you're overreacting on this one. I got into TES with Daggerfall, are you telling me that my TES experience was wrong because I didn't play Arena first? I've got another one, I played Fallout 2 before playing the original. And whilst we're bringing out all our dirty secrets, I would rate Red Dead Redemption as one of my favourite games, but I've never played Red Dead Revolver. These things didn't lessen my experience of these particular series, and I really don't think you should be looking negatively on people just because they arrived a little late to the party.
I don't slate, I just get annoyed if they don't care for the games before the newest and shiniest. Not if they are just new and don't realize that you need to play the other games to understand a heavy plot. You know, it's like watching (or reading) LOTR backwards. I don't say anything to people though. It's just something that bugs me.
I once made the mistake of playing AC2 first before even playing AC. I never usually do that though. And I will never do it again. It was a total spoiler and I couldn't understand what was going on properly. I couldn't get into the plot or characters properly as I was always confused. I didn't even know what the animus actually was.
So, with games that have a heavy plot, yet you don't care for the first game because it isn't brand new and shiny, yes it does annoy me.
I did it wrong, I had no idea what was going on, it was a big mistake. I now regret that because I know I would have enjoyed the series more if I played the first AC, well, first. So yes, I did do it wrong too. I should have played the other game first. Then I would have understood.
Don't twist my words.
