You know who I dont hear about much? Nintendo they seem to have dropped off my gaming radar...with good reason

so what do you think of them, I can't deny that what they are doing is working those guys are swimming in cash

But to be honest I dont care anymore, I hate the wii I hate the fact that they pander to nostalga and I really dont care about casual game, I now Hate mario and I never liked Zelda and I dont belive nintendo are ahead in the gameing world at all

I cant really blame them for tapping into that market, I wonder how will they do in the future? personally I want them to sink....I know thats just me being evil

Nintendo has made some of the greatest game franchises of all time, and continues to support them. In addition, they're making gaming accessible to a broad new audience.
What's not to like?

Honestly, you'll find some rather mindless Nintendo hatred here. For some reason the PC Gaming Master Race takes particular offense to Nintendo's very existence.

it'd be nice if they stepped back up to the plate, I've really enjoyed Nintendo over the years and as of late the love they've shown me back has felt few and far between. I'm not saying I'm special or anything and deserve any treatment. but I've followed along with the Wii and I would like to get some use out of it again. but thank goodness for the DS.

I generally enjoy Nintendo in a mindless fashion, but that's to avoid thinking at how it's become so sadly lacking in new heavy hitting software.

Sure, their first party stuff is almost always good, but I'd like to see some imagination, new IPs, more innovation on the software side.

EDIT: They're doing the right thing in the portable market, but the console market has been problematic for years.

They just keep making sequels of the same old tired franchises that were never particularly deep to begin with. They're highly restrictive as to who they license to make games for their consoles, and on a whole are doing very little other than cash in on what they know will keep making them money. It may be sound business practice, but they are doing very little to advance the medium. (And no, I do not count motion control as an advancement.)

I acknowledge what Nintendo have done for the gaming industry over the years, but personally I despise them.

They keep re-making the same games over and over and the stupid customers keep buying them.
This in itself is not worthy of my hatred, but I have other, more personal, reasons.

I've got to agree with you on every point there, I honestly have nothing more to say as it would simply be variations or more verbose ways of saying this.

Remaking? How in hell are they remaking the same games? Sure things like the super mario advanced series were remakes, yeah but things like Super Mario Galaxy 2 and New Super Mario Brothers Wii are sequels in a franchise, when a game has similar elements and setting to a previous game in the franchise but with different levels and often mechanics then it is by no means a remake, it's a sequel.

Even if the story for each is practically the same, the gameplay is always different enough from the last to keep it fresh. Nintendo games have never really been about story with the exception of a few games.

Nintendo was great when it started and peaked (IMO) with the N64...But now its a dying brand. I mean, Wii had great sales because in all honesty...it was the cheapest one by about half. The ideas are old, Mario, Metroid and Zelda should of been dropped by now.

This is my opinion, I respect Nintendo but if they don't get some new ideas they're gonna have to survive off of kids alone and even kids want more serious games.

(I saw a girl in EB, about 6 years old, getting Alpha Protocol)

Nintendo hasn't been providing a whole lot of worth to the hardcore gaming crowd for the last few years. Even so, I'm glad for the Wii and I'm glad for its success. By bringing children into gaming they are securing the future of hardcore gaming. The children playing the Wii now will grow up and want more mature games. If not for the Wii the current generation of gamers may diminish and not be replaced by a new generation. We need to bring in new blood.* Also, Nintendo is about to start being worthwhile to hardcore gamers again when they release the 3DS. So, I like Nintendo.

*This thought isn't original to me, see The Game Overthinker.

I love Nintendo and always will support them, they seem to be the only company that knows how to pace there sequels instead of cashing in all at once. I don't think they need anymore ip's for the simple fact that they have made so many good ones and could easily just revive them.

Well the difference is that most of the new Sonic Games suck.
The vast majority of Mario games are awesome or enjoyable.

OT:Love Nintendo.
Will probably still love them as i grow old despite their flaws.

I agree with the above here. Aside from Madworld and The Conduit (in my opinion), Nintendo has yet to have a decent third-party game. Nowadays, anything Nintendo releases isn't something I can imagine myself playing for long periods of time.

People can complain all they want about their love of sequels, mario galaxy1 & 2 were still fucking amazing, every zelda game has been fucking amazing, and I'd bet my last penny the new Zelda will be too. It's one of the few games I'll be picking up on launch day.

Sure, Nintendo have dropped off my radar for most of the time, but when they're good, they're still exceptional.

I've always enjoyed Nintendo, but some of the way they market games and some of their business practices recently have annoyed me. They've done some interesting things to try to bring new things to the medium, and I can support that. Even if Motion Control isn't as awesome as it SHOULD have been, it's still new and interesting, and at least they're TRYING to do something new, rather than jumping on the bandwagon years after (Microsoft, Sony, looking at you). The problems with Nintendo's innovation seem to be coming from the fact that they don't want to branch out of their current franchises. Nintendo has always tried to do things differently than the other console vendors, with varying degrees of success. Usually in recent years by making less powerful, but more affordable consoles.

However, Nintendo severely disappointed me with their 25th anniversary Mario Collection. And the way they were so cheap with that title made me really wonder... Just how often do they treat their games like that? Cutting back on what they COULD do easily with a couple more days-weeks of work to save some money, while still charging full price for it doesn't give me confidence in Nintendo.

Also, some of their recent lawsuits against fans have had me a bit frustrated with their legal dept.

Overall, I like Nintendo, and hope they continue to attempt console innovation. While at the same time, I really hope they start branching out, and stop being so damn cheap. Also, stop legally attacking fans for making movies about your games and worshiping your games and discussing images of them just because they haven't released in the area they live in. Especially considering the game had ALREADY been released in another region. Jackasses.
