whats the point of these atheist threads.Only for sharpening your basement-dwelling atheist dicks.I mean no believer in God doesnt care about what your are writing and only atheist will say ,wow your so smart.. your the man, without knowing nothing.Just becouse Vatican is taking all the money doesnt mean that the Orthodox or any other church does it nor have they the same campaign BELIEVE IIN GOD GIVE ME MONEY OR DIE.
And if you want really to debunk religion, find some big-time books(with the blessing of some bishop preferably) and find some illogical flaw, all you do know is finding anti-christian sources(like zeitgeist) on the INTERNET and then copy-paste..ahh you believe in the sun 25 decembe..3stars
without the knowledge that back in the days they used a different calendar

This is why i hate escapist nowadays, every other topic is about the evolution and rewinding the same issues non-stop.And it full of pricks like you
WHY does the mods letting such threads(of any religion kinds, in a positive or negative way not just atheism it doesnt matter it shouldnt be here)

If you really want to make the point of me debating religion on this site, know what forum your in. Last time i checked, this is off-topic conversation. I've had trouble with sourcing Wikipedia before and i haven't trusted the site since. I find it an overused alternative to thoroughly researching a topic. No offense.

EDIT: And it's not like i am going to block out everyone else just because their beliefs differ from mine. So i respect others opinions, but i may not agree.
No offence but I've been around a while (forums in general, not just here) and seen dozens, maybe hundreds of threads on religion degenerate into complete wastes of time where no one learns anything, let alone changes their opinion on something.

But off the record. You have to go a long way to see the religious point of view. So if you do want to debate with these people then be prepared to humour them.(*) For crying out loud be thankful hes not telling you to go to some religious b/s website or read the Bible. Hes being reasonable, I think if you want this thread to go anywhere you should at least read a section of the Wikipedia articles hes linking you to.

*Sorry, its 3am. I know that sounds offensive to the guy [humour them] and I really don't mean to, but it is kinda what I mean, I just am too tired to think of a more appropriate term.

Anyway, I have never been able to understand why perfectly intelligent people in this day in age believe in this religious nonsense. I used to think religion would die out someday, but there is something within people that makes them want to believe. In 2009 the Catholic church is antiquated as you like, but its still one billion strong. I guess a lot of it has to do with tradition as well, its just annoying to know that at the end of the century we might have flying cars but there will certainly be all the major religious knocking about, evolved from their current form to survive in the world of the future but still there going strong.

Real is irrelevant to religion, its based on faith. Their faith is real, proof is not necessary, many claim to see proof in the everyday 'miracle' of nature.

Still, look on the bright side, we can all laugh at it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwooM4yhiiY

Though many rookie posters are not as developed in the frontal lobe as i can be sometimes.
You love yourself too much.

I hate it when people judge wikipedia just because "anyone can submit information". Yeah they can, and inevitably at some point some fucktard is gonna post something stupid on there. But in all likelihood it will be noticed by a non-fucktard and complaints will be sent to the people who run that website. Hence why you get the little warning at the top saying stuff like "this article may not be impartial" or "does not contain enough sources". That's why wikipedia is a good place to start, because the good articles on there will have links to sources that you can check out and read about. So don't write it off just cos you think the general population of the planet is less intelligent than yourself.

Having said that, the criticism of your interpretation of revelation seems pretty unfounded to me. I was brought up by Baptist parents, and was forced to go to church for the first 16years of my life. While i wasn't sleeping, I picked up a fair amount of knowledge of christian theology, and your interpretation of revelation, though brief, was pretty spot on. True, technically it's not God who leads the army, it's Jesus. But then christianity puts them as one and the same person in the trinity, so the poster who faulted you for saying that was being petty.

And just lol@ the person who said it was about the persecution of the christians.

Having said all that, there are many theories within christianity about the book of revelation. Some schools of thought maintain that the christians are not actually raptured up to heaven until after the tribulation. (the tribulation being all the apocalyptic stuff that goes down).

I'm not sure what point i'm making here tbh. But what I will conclude with, is stop being so up yourself and elitist, and also your first post seems to jump from reality to apocalyptic interpretations and everything in between, with no real direction. Probably would have served you better to post the seperate discussions in seperate threads, as now the reality issue has been largely overlooked in favour of religion bashing/defending, as is often the case on forums.

Apologies for the essay.

Real
I don't believe it's going to happen. The whole religion thing is weird to me. Why should a list of commandments be 10 long? Why not 11? Because 10 sounds official.(Carlin references aside, He had a good point)
can i say something? there were alot more. but they were condensed. alot! there were in the hundreds.also welcome. dont feed the trolls. they will kill your soul.

Real

What you may not know is that reality is a rarity, or a virtue if you will. It is the need for normalcy which drives us all insane. Normalcy, like reality, is a vice. Both need equilibrium in our environment for either to exist.
let me get this straight, you think we need Christian Bale kicking Ass with Gun kata against some dudes who hate emotions for normalcy and reality to exist in our environment?

you remind me of morpheus. "what is real? is real something you can smell, taste or touch? then real is jus"- and so on

i purposely jumped from subject to subject in attempt to give the reader a sense of what is or isn't real or truthful. I felt it was eye-catching to bring in a few definitions of the word "real" and I wanted to gain some girth to my material. Please keep in mind a title doesn't have to give away the main idea of a passage. I always thought religion or at least Christianity was a bit unreliable anyway so i went on with it. I didn't really expect such a... "colorful" response from the community, but i appreciate all of you at least reading it and not taking me for an inexperienced forum writer. I have always wanted to be an author.
