I've been playing Call of Duty 4 a lot lately on 360. What I've noticed is pretty amazing. 9 out of 10 lobbies of TDM or FFA are modded and/or hacked. Run speed, full-auto grenade launchers, lag switches, etc.

My question to you is, what do you believe the punishment should be for people who are caught cheating once?

Personally, I believe a permanent ban is in order. You know what you're doing is against the rules, and you're doing it anyways. I sincerely hope you die in a fire, douche.

Edit: For some reason the poll didn't work and it won't let me edit... odd.
Edit 2: Poll appears to be working now!

Death. Think about it, if there was a threat of death only complete and utter morons would do it, and they'd have been given fair warning previously.

I'm actually quite shocked that we already have a vote for "Warning". Do people honestly believe Warnings work? They don't.

Light, then long term, then Perm.

Actually no, screw them... I dont cheat and never have and dont appreciate people cheating so permanent straight away. Like, literally as soon as they cheat they are banned... that very second. CATCH UP TECHNOLOGY! I SAID NOW!

Permanent ban. Knowingly breaking the rules and ruining the play experience of honest players is extraordinarily selfish. Valve has caught a lot of heat for automatic and permanent bans from their VAC system, but if you ask me that's exactly the kind of system that keeps people in line.

Purge the heretics!

Death.
if death not possible:
Paralysis.
if paralysis not possible, and the minimum punishment:
Permanent ban.

They should be permanently labelled as a cheater so they get kicked from every game they try to join.

I have an even better idea. Here's how it goes down;

#1. Label the player as a cheater.

#2. Force every arms weapon that the cheater uses to shoot out health kits.

#3. Force the cheater to wear a pink bow. (Cookie if you get the reference.)

Every game should come with a clause in the terms and conditions that if they are caught cheating, the CD key of their game will be revoked, IP banned and eligible for a partial refund of their game. So apart from forfeiting the privilege of having a game to play, they might also get the shit kicked out of them for making anyone else they live with that plays this game unable to play it as well.

If they can't play by the rules made by the designers of the game - and thus disrespecting them and everyone else, they shouldn't have bought the game in the first place.

Real-life cheating.
Somehow get the mate of cheat to cheat on them. They will learn cheating is wrong. How, psychologically? I do not know, really.

I remember I once read that the only correct response to cheating should be the console shooting our your disc like a skeet aimed at the cheaters neck.
