Ban. They can try to play normally again by buying another copy of the game, but their IP should be monitored and if they do it again, block their IP and disable that CD Key. No refunds.

Permaban works well, cheating shouldn't be tolerated with players who don't want to be cheating. Ruins the game immensely, but they can play with likeminded people on non secure servers/non admined servers all they want.

I highly approve of the VAC ban method where multiple games get banned as well.

It's the only thing in a game I think should be a permaban right off though.

I'm a big fan of Microsoft's idea of putting "Cheater" on their profile. I think its clever.

First strike: 48 hour ban.
Second strike: Week long ban.
Third strike: You're outta here!

I have an even better idea. Here's how it goes down;

#1. Label the player as a cheater.

#2. Force every arms weapon that the cheater uses to shoot out health kits.

#3. Force the cheater to wear a pink bow. (Cookie if you get the reference.)

Yeah, but then the cheater suddenly becomes a field medic... should do something that can't be circumvented like- change all his graphics to 8-bit, reverse all his controls, or- make their controls totally stupid: like the forward key opens the inventory, the jump key drops his weapon, the escape key for fire; every 5 minutes the controls get scrambled again.

Also- their menu interface will be all replaced by a cheat-menu/list, some of which are normal menu buttons disguised as cheats, some of which work- but are totally useless anyway because of the controls being scrambled.

You wanna break other peoples gaming experience? you should have your own game broken.

I voted for light suspension. as in, light suspension (1st offence), followed by long suspension (2nd offence), then finally, permanent ban (3 strikes). this would protect against people who were hacked an people who just made a stupid mistake and decided to try it once. this will weed out the serious cheaters and hackers from everyone else

It should result in their home address being displayed to everyone effected by the cheating... or failing that perma-ban.

Some sort if system in wich cheaters can only play online with other cheaters and cannot access 'normal' online game. Then they should see how annoying they're being.

well, start it off with a light suspension. sometimes people just make a stupid ass decision. all the little kids playing CoD wanna try out the cool hacks for the first time.

but after that, just permaban em

if your caught using a 3rd party program etc to cheat then just perma ban them. but if its just people reporting you as a cheater cause you owned them then maybe a 24 hour ban if enough different people report you. like i mean 10-20 people report you. not 2-3 people.

there is just to many way to cheat that you would need different punishments. like using a glitch should be a smaller ban compared to using 3rd party software to cheat.

I kind of like what Capcom is doing with MvC3 and repeat ragequitters. Let them play, but make sure they're stuck playing with themselves and no one else until they prove they've learned their lesson.

I have better punishment for glitch exploiters, Fix the Glitch.

First off, I play CoD4 on the 360 regularly, all standard gametypes, and in the past month or so I have never been in a modded lobby.

First offense: 2 days
Second offense: a week, reset all stats and rank
Third offense: permanent ban
