My definition of camping would be sitting in a corner, waiting for people to come by,and repeat this process for the rest of this game.

I would not consider patrolling one house as camping.

I want to know the general consensus on what camping exactly is. If your definition is not in the poll choices, please pick other and type it down.

Camping is a word I like to scream down my mike along with various expletives when someone kills me.

Well.

First you need an area of wilderness, preferrably away from other human settlements...

Standing in one spot, whether it's in a corner, or the middle of the map, for the whole game.

It's all in the mindset.

If you KNOW somebody is right around the corner, thinking "If I wait here and he comes around the corner, I'll kill him.", that's not camping.

If you go to the corner thinking "Someone will come through here EVENTUALLY.", THAT'S camping.

People who repeatedly sit in a corner score well kinda boring kills are campers, but some guys who kill you from the corner could still just be ambushing you no? As long as the move on after killing you i guess.

I don't get that annoyed by campers tho, i mean after they get you. It's like "i now know where you are and i have grenades!. Not the brightest was of scoring kills.

IMO camping can be defined as staying in a small area for the entire game. If they stick to one building I'd call it camping as well.

Duly noted.

While we're at it, some form of shelter. Either a tent or some basic tools to help you make a shelter from branche.
A good quality sleeping bag, mess tins, bottled water and some means of lighting a fire.

Camping is basically where some waits for someone to walk pass and get a cheap kill, sniping is annoying because it is similar but some sniper spots are really good and I use them in this exception.

I would say standing near choke points (at doors or hallways), preferably high traffic ones, and not moving and killing anyone who walks through. It isn't so bad as long as you don't camp spawn points.

part of sniping is finding that spot. The difference is sniping is usually very exposed and easily countered with another sniper. Whereas camping is usually hidden and not prone to being sniped.

Standing in a corner the whole game.
I don't care about campers really, but when it's down to one on one or the camper is the last man standing while others are just waiting for the next round... Well, I get a bit pissed.

It depends what you mean by a small area and a large area; however I'd define a building as a large area. I chose option two because campers often hang around one or two spots to attempt to confuse opponents coming to get them.

Whenever i'm in a building my friends say im camping. Literally even if i am simply running through it.

I like to patrol a base for a time then move to another throughout a match. It anoys me that i get called a camper even though i never sit in a corner and wait for a kill.

Where I come from it means not passing the pipe. ^_^

OT I don't fps often but I would imagine it means hiding in an obscure spot for the game and shooting anyone who passes by, like that vent in the apartment level in goldeneye 64. Anything else would just be patrolling or sniping which are perfectly legit.

It's people who sit and watch one spot that I consider bad campers. Sticking to one building is camping too, but I do that so I can't really knock it.
Yes, it's my fault for not being able to kill someone that doesn't move, but it doesn't take away from the fact this person's clearly sacrificing their own fun and then eats up mine too just for a good K/D ratio.

Hiding in a corner with a shotgun is camping. Defending an objective or covering a high-traffic area is not camping. Just because you don't run around like a headless chicken all game doesn't mean you're a camper.
