Poll: What is your favourite genre of gaming and why?

Now, the main thing I want to get out of this is this;

What percent of the escapist plays what. Plus your age if you don't mind.

Personally I'm a JRPG kinda guy that is partial to the occasional FPS. The FPS thing has only become prominent since the PS3 has sweet fuck all RPG's on it and it's catalogue is FPS's's's.

But what are thou?

RPG most definetaly.

I like the blend of puzzles, combat, story and freedom of choice and multiple alternative solutions, with the usual fantasy or sci-fi elements thrown in. Though I like JRPGs and play them every now and then, the grinding aspects present in most tend to put me off; pointless grinding and combat against carbon-copy monsters doesn't appeal to me in RPGs.

RTS comes a close second. And perhaps my least favourite are the FPSs, thought a few gems every now and then spark my interest to the genre, Halo:CE and Painkiller as examples.

Oh, and I'm 25.

Fighting games, I like the aspect of learning the matches, knowing what moves your character has that can beat what moves your opponent has, trying to limit their options so that they have only 1 or 2 choices and forcing them to make fatal mistakes. There's also the aspect of learning your character inside and out, your strongest punish, a powerful Bread and Butter combo that you wont mess up, how to maintain pressure and how to get out of tight situations.
It's like chess if there are 2 good players playing.

FPS and RTS.

I like me some shooters but they have to be good shooters.
And for RTS, I like me some thinking and strategy in my games.

The thrill of commanding a vast army of Rohan, and seeing your Axemen of Edoras march towards the enemy, engage in combat, and hold the enemy in place, with your huge army of Riders of Rohan flanking and charging the enemy from behind and archers raining fire from above...

God, I love Third Age:Total War.

RPGs, MMOs (if I can be bothered) and FPSs.

RPGs for the satisfaction of leveling up thing, feeling progress, you know?
Same for MMOs plus the social part.
FPSs for mindless enjoyment, nice for blowing off steam.

I am an RPG fan. Im in it for the story lines and creative works. Gameplay varrys from time to time. But for the most part im in it for the story. And every now and again i love MMO's because they provide to me PVP and being a high enough level in PVP means your god damn near unstopable and that is just plain fun.
