They need to learn to pick their fights. Fighting people killing rats in a VIDEO GAME is a waste of resources that could be used to stop puppy mills and people from locking their dogs in cars in 125 degree heat.
Well thats what I think they should be doing with their time.

They COULD do good, but don't, so misguided is the best word for it.

A pathetic excuse for an organization. Animals have no rights; I'll eat the damn thing when I'm hungry and I'll put it down if it gets too troublesome. There, I said it.
^this guy knows whats up. We didn't kill and fight our way up to the top of the animal kingdom to eat leaves.

Vegans/vegetarians have no substitute for bacon.

That is all.

I think they give a bad reputation to vegans, and can't formulate proper arguments and instead resort to shock tactics.

They're to vegetarians what the Westboro Baptist Church are to Christians. They make the good ones look bad.

Not to mention by PeTA's definition, Steve Irwin was an animal abuser. The freakin' Crocodile Hunter man! That's just unacceptable.

A applaude the meaning of their cause, but find their hypocrasy to be distasteful.

I eat bacon in protest.
I shall join you in that protest, good sir!

OT: Negative. Besides their super negative public image, every vocal PeTA member I've met has been an annoying prick. One even threw ice tea at a person for eating a hamburger. Sorry, but if we give animals rights, we also have to give them responsibilities. As in the responsibility not to eat other animals, because that would violate their rights. Which won't happen. So yeah. I don't agree with their message or their idea. Animals are just too g'damn tasty.

EDIT: You'll get my hamburger when you pry it...

I was immediately reminded of when they actually tried to use porn to get their point across when I read this.

PETA's horribly misguided. I can understand their concerns and I value things like bioethics and animal rights as much as the next guy, but I'm not about to stop eating meat and occasionally killing a rat or a wolf or a dog in an RPG.

I'm well aware that I could go vegan and that in the process I'd at least contribute in a ridiculously small manner to the lessening of supply-and-demand for the meatpacking industry, but the truth is that PETA runs on hypocrisy. They "rescue" animals across America and Europe to such a degree that they often have no other choice but to euthanize them earlier than your average vetenarian clinic would!

Overall, their goals are incredibly unrealistic. They seem to be aiming for some sort of Elysian Fields-type setting where nobody covets the cute widdle animals for their meat and where even patting a dog on the head a little too harshly becomes a crime of the worst order.

Same goes for those who figure that protesting against whalers validates the idea of gearing up a ship for terrorist attacks on Japanese ships. If you want to change things, don't be a freaking troll and don't behave like a lawless idiot. Talk it out. Start a discussion. If the other party doesn't want to listen, ask some more. If you're reduced to trolling for attention, you're doing something wrong.

I'm aware that there's a problem. The biosphere is degrading year after year, but aggressively treating comparatively innocent people (like gamers) like criminals is absolutely ridiculous. Not to mention that some species simply couldn't survive out in the wild. Not all dogs and cats have the benefit of strong instincts, as their size and shape would make it difficult for them to hunt for food.

I'm pretty sure that when my local animal shelter zealots talk about releasing dogs into the wild, they're thinking of Samoyeds or Huskies or other large breeds with some lasting feral tendencies. They never seem to think of what would happen if you just dropped a Pug or a Shih Tsu in the middle of a damned forest... The likelihood of those dogs simply dying of starvation is immense. As if that didn't qualify as cruelty in its own right.

PETA are an embarrassment to the movement they try to champion. I agree with many of the ethical positions against the use of anything made from animals, but PETA gives vegetarians and vegans a bad name. Most vegans I know are ordinary people who have made personal choices and are happy with themselves; PETA would have you think that all vegans are aggressive, sensationalist protesters.

My opinion of Peta? Well, I think they're obnoxious, tired, overdone, annoying, and completely unoriginal. Oh, and I'm talking about those constant PETA jokes, not the corporation its self.
At first the jokes were clever. People for the eating of tasty animals, all right, I can buy that. But seriously, can't we just let the joke go gracefully? Its over stayed its welcome and by now its gotten to the point where even listening to Peta's insane nonsense has become more intelligent and endearing.

There, I just had to get that of my chest. As for my thoughts on Peta, the animal rights group . . .

They're media whores. In my opinion they're no better - or worse - than basically anyone that's involved in hollywood or our political system. In short, what I'm saying is that our country is run by a bunch of spoiled brats (be it politicians or celebraties) that just want their precious attention. Anything that brings them attention, good or bad, brings them their fame and money. So to be honest, no, I don't think Peta is all that bad.

Peta's a joke and an insult to animal rights. But here's something that's an even greater insult: Our most intelligent people who are supposed to run our country act pretty much the exact same way.

And because of that, I don't believe Peta is all that bad. PETA doesn't play an important role in our society as our government, so their childish attitude isn't quite as destructive to our nation.

They kill 96% of the dogs and 99% of the cats they "save"
and They spend around 1% of their budged on you know actually helping animals

but they did make a cooking mama game that was awesome, until the end where it went downhill fast.

When you kill the animals you "save" your not ethical and your in no fucking way for animals.

It's a must.

I think their intention is noble.

I also think their ideas are goatfuck crazy. 'A single rat got stabbed IN A VIDEO GAME?! STOP THE PRESSES!'

The episode of bullshit covers what I think of them and how I thought of them for many, many years prior to seeing the episode.

Now I love what PETA wants to do, I just hate everything they actually do, how they accomplish it and the way they create fuss around themselves.

I am all for animal rights and I'm not too keen on animal testing either. However a lot of important research requires animal testing so it's required. There's so many diseases we couldn't have been fighting without it. Diseases that are bad for both animals and humans. Researching them is the best for everyone.
I also believe we should eat meat because it's natural and that our diet actually requires to eat both meat and vegetables. Even a cow eats a bug now and then and most of the plants we eat got living organisms in them that we just can't see. In a way not even a vegetarian is a vegetarian.
Animals should be treated well either if they're pets or dinner and that's all I really got to say on this matter. PETA have went wrong with their ads, their brainwashing and the fact that most of the animals they save gets killed.

PeTA are anything but positive.
Yes, Im as fond of animal welfare as the next, But these people take it like a whole new level.
They look to get the media on their backs, so then they get the general public riled up about them.

They put the animals they are trying to save's welfare over the
safety of the animals ecosystem they release them into. Take for example the Minks which they released into the British ecosystem - because the Mink is a foreign animal and none of the native animals have developed a way of countering or escaping from it, It completely wipes out entire ecosystems, and even attacked and killed pets in the areas.

Also what about testing possibly harmful products on animals. If we stop that then companies can get away with putting harmful chemicals in homes and will more than likely harm or kill someone.

So what or who do we test them on if we cant do it to animals which are bread for testing?

PETA has good intentions, but when they go on a limb about how Battlefield 3 is animal cruelty. To a rat.

It's time they cut lose the 'dead weight' and hire some people who actually CARE about animals, and not making headlines.
