I don't have 90 tabs open.....

Yeah, I love TvTropes. It's introduced me to a stupid amount of good media I would never have heard of otherwise.

I never got the hate for the Tvtropes forums. As long as you avoid On Topic Conversations, it's perfectly fine.

I usually have three tabs open when I'm online: The Escapist, Youtube, and TVTropes.

TVTropes is my favorite way to find out about movies, games, anime, etc - new and old - that I would otherwise have missed out on. The main problem I have with TVTropes isn't so much that it takes up my time. More that it's causing me to leave behind a small fortune on Amazon.

Totally worth it, though!

I honestly don't get it. People say that they'll be their all day if they look at it, and it's addicting.

Cracked.com was that way for me, but TVtropes is extremely cluttered to me. Maybe it's because everytime I give it a chance, I don't know where to start. But yeah. Nothing really pops out at me on that site.

I like TVtropes a lot, it's always very interesting to read because of my interest in fiction.

Although I have never experienced the community, I am definitely going to say that people who say "this troper" are annoying as fiddle di dee.

While I like the site itself, mostly for being a good source of knowledge, I tend to dislike the contributors.

I like it, and I make a general practice, after I finish a movie/game/book/whatever, of seeing what TVTropes has to say about it. However, what I don't like about it is its tendency to take over the vocabulary of anyone who has ever spent any time on the site. I can no longer discuss a movie/game/book/whatever with any of my friends who read TVTropes without them spouting TVTropes jargon, and that bothers me. The site offers a convenient lexicon for such discussions, but at the same time I feel like it discourages people from forming original opinions, or at least from articulating their opinions in original ways. They just default to using the terminology and categories that the website has so kindly provided for them.

...god, that made me sound like a total hipster. D:

It's the most dangerous time sink on the internet. Anytime someone links to it, I'm trapped for like four hours.

Can't stand the site, so I guess I'm the minority. I've surfed around a few times, but found most of it fairly uninteresting. *shrugs*

Fun and fluffy. It is loaded with interesting trivia and can serve as a surprisingly descent introduction for literary and narrative theory for anyone not initiated in it, though it's minimal amount of serious discussion of narrative is probably it's biggest downside. If nothing else, it's probably one of the best resources available to find enjoyable media based on what you already like (if you can get past the enormous amount of fanwank.) Lastly, it's informal and tongue-in-cheeck language, as well as it's delightful mesh of visual puns and cryptic titles, make it very easy to end up blowing several hours on the site at a time.

Whether or not this is a good thing depends entirely on how many point you lost on the paper that you didn't finish because of your wiki walk.

Personally, I'm working my way through this. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efTloIPzkkA&feature=channel]

It's just so magical.
Wow, just wow.
At first I just thought that was kinda sad (although a little weird, who makes appointments to see their friends?) but then it got to the whole "My obssesion is making her uncomfortable! How can she be so unfair!" and it just goes straight to creepy-town. I'm pretty sure that's how school-shootings start.

A very pleasant time-eater. I love to browse it for a good old-fashioned Aha-Erlebnis.
