To all the people saying that Xbox Live has no servers:
That's why people are still playing Halo 2 on Xbox Live, right?

If they didn't charge me for something that others get for free than they wouldn't have that title. So yes, they are known to me as Micro$oft.Terminate421 said:Seriously? Micro$oft? What are you 12?Beastialman said:People get banned on PSN and no Micro$oft that need money to keep the online experience smooth. Thats the excuse people give after they find they essentially paid for what other people get for free. Thats why I only play offline games on my Xbox and online gaming on the PS3.IamSofaKingRaw said:Actually Dedicated servers aren't free and they are costly and constantly ask you for donations because someone has to pay bandwidth. PS3 does it for free since they don't give you as good as technical and online support (banning people, keeping it run smoothly).
I have Gears 1, NBA 2k8, GTAIV, Lost PLanet, Mass Effect, Oblivion, The Force Unleashed and Mercenaries 2. I had Forza 3 (sold it). I have played all the exclusives (except L4D and Crackdown) because a friend of mine has all the Halos, Fable 2 etc.. and lets me borrow them.Beastialman said:Did you spell Microsoft with a $ because everyone else is doing it or because it's hip and trendy (also you made a grammatical error but I'm not gonna rub it in, unless this countsIamSofaKingRaw said:People get banned on PSN and no Micro$oft that need money to keep the online experience smooth. Anyway what games do you have for PS3 and 360?
Agreed, assholes and 10 year olds who can't shut up need to fuck off.Irridium said:Its a solid online platform that is ruined by its community.
Dude, I don't care. With the Party system Xbox live has become a dishevelled piece of work compared to when it was released.squid5580 said:Because you aren't paying for the internet twice. There is alot of value in having a Gold membership once people get past all the stereotypes and the initial "OMG I am paying for the internet twice". First off is all the contests. Every week there is at least one to win anything from 1000 point card (for me value at about 15 bucks) to entire home theatre systems and new 360s (sometimes special, signed or dipped in gold). And all you have to do is enter is download a gamerpic (which are on average about 20KB) and some are pretty cool. I am rockin a Batman pic I got from entering a contest. Every week content goes on sale. If I had been patient I could have bought all the Dragon Age Origins (including Awakenings) DLC for half price. That would have saved me 30-40 bucks if I had taken advantage of it. Now you throw MP and party chat (and all the other bells and whistles) on top of that for 60 bucks a year (I am sorry but if you are buying by the month you are foolish) then how is that not a good deal?captaincabbage said:I reckon it's bullshit personally. I don't wanna pay to use internet I've already paid for, regardless of the games the 360 may have, I don't reckon it's worth it, same as MMOs.
Why would you pay for internet twice on 360 when you could get it for free on PC and even PS3? It just doesn't make sense to me.
Well, first of all you don't pay for updates and "other game features". Not sure what you mean by other game features, but updates are free if you're on a gold or silver subscription.Ih8pkmn said:Personally, I HATE XBL. It's total bullshit that you have to pay for Multiplayer, Updates, and Other game features which are all available for FREE on PC. It's just another way of Microsoft to stick their hands into our pockets, as if they didn't have enough money already.
Well for starters, because you paid $60 a year. Where did you go to purchase Xbox Live Gold that they charged you $60 for a year?! If you buy it right from your console directly, it's only $50 a year, which is still a bad deal when you can get the retail cards with a code you redeem on the 360 dashboard for $40 on Amazon. Or you could get them for even less if you watch stores for sales.squid5580 said:Now you throw MP and party chat (and all the other bells and whistles) on top of that for 60 bucks a year (I am sorry but if you are buying by the month you are foolish) then how is that not a good deal?
I won't argue this, it's too true. Why is it whenever somebody brings up XBL someone somewhere screams out "PAY FOR MULTIPLAYER?! FUCK THAT!" Yet, no one ever screams about mmorpgs and their subscriptions?Miumaru said:I can get a year of xbox live, or a bit less than 4 months of World of Warcraft.
Because all MMOrpgs cost monthly fees so its not like you can get the same experience for free elsewhere. As for MS you are forced to pay for stuff that you can get for free with Steam and PSN.Skopintsev said:I won't argue this, it's too true. I have a PC, and yes, I do.EightGaugeHippo said:There is nothing wrong with it, other than the people. But I doubt PC and PSN can brag about their commuinitys.
so then every online platform is like it? because I've yet to see a platform with a truly good community.Irridium said:Its a solid online platform that is ruined by its community.
