one of the 8 straight ladies here.

25 girls to 207 guys? if my maths is correct that's less than an eighth are women. I thought the Escapist was more of an even split between the genders... Weird. o_O?

I suppose I just can't wrap my brain around the idea of someone feeling no attraction, physical or otherwise, towards anybody. It doesn't make sense to me on so many different levels, and I don't think it's possible to explain it to me. As I said before, I don't mean to offend.
I can see where your coming from though....
I've been aware of Non/Asexuality in people......I've just never encountered so many before entering the escapist.

It just seems that the Escapist has quite a lot of them.....seems out of proportion to me.
(But hey then again, what the hell do I know right? ;)

Mind you, I'm not calling anyone out, or accusing any specific person of lying!

But I too have been wondering, could all of them be true asexuals....or is the demographic skewed by a percentage of people who only claim/believe they are asexual.
(A thought wich is compounded further when other "straight" people start appoligizing for being "unoriginal"). It just makes me wonder....

But since I will never really know the awnser to that I'm just going to assume that perhaps asexuality is a lot more commonplace than I would have thought.

Ow right....my OWN sexuality......Male,straight..
Questioned that for a while during puberty, but no longer.

Mostly gay male but since the right woman would certainly catch my eye I'd describe myself as bisexual.

I'm straight.
And I'm male, obviously (judging from my picture, eh).

But why do you care?
I mean, it just seems a bit spontaneous. "Heeey! What's YOUR sexual orientation?!"
There's not even any obvious reason.

But fuck, I'm officially known to be a random tosser myself.
So thumbs up with the topic! And the poll!

And just for the record: no, I'm not a bloody homophobe.

It pisses me off, there is no way such a big part of a community to be bisexual. I am pretty sure no one has ever thought of having a relationship with a person of the same sex, why don't you all describe yourself as bi-curious? Because in reality you are straight as fuck and try to be hip by proclaiming an abnormal sexual preference. There is no way for most of said people to have the balls to describe themselves as bisexuals in real life. Hypocrites..

Glad I took this out of me...

The statistics that most people refer to aren't very good. The last one, which is on wikipedia, shows the statistics from the 1990s, from a small area in England. Twenty year old data, and low reliability >.> No way near enough participants, or spread of area >.>
Also, another thing that may affect the number of people calling themselves Nonsexual/Asexual could be people in the Grey-A spectrum, but they don't know the term for the one they are, so just say they are Asexual/Nonsexual.

It's not really that big a portion - maybe 50-ish out of the 250-ish that've voted.
It's entirely possible - sexuality is a much more open matter nowadays, and people of different sexualities are more widely accepted.

I'm one of the people who voted bi, and the last person I got with was a guy, so...
I'm not saying you're wrong about it, I'm just saying that it's not as impossible as you think.

I'm male, questioning.
I find men and women hot so maybe bi.
On that post, I can see why you have that avatar ;)

Anyway, I'm pansexual. I.e. my main focus is to have a romantic relationship, often regardless of gender. So not asexual, because I still want sex, but only as part of a relationship.

Still need to find a guy to date though X|

I identify as pansexual.

If ANY of you think that means I'm into animals I'm going to reach through the internet and punch you in the fucking face.
Me too, somewhat. Bisexual/Pansexual. I like everybody. I'm a kind person. Lovin' people is my forte.
You couldn't be Pansexual as well Bisexual, the two orientations clash.

Bisexual is you having an equal interest in either gender.

Pansexual means that you have no interest in gender.

I little over simplified but very much the bare-bones of it :p

Also i've noticed that the OP hasn't posted again on this forum since he put the topic up. Im guessing the Guy didn't get the fight he was looking for.
