3.0, I give almost zero effort but I still manage to get a good average in all but math.
Pretty much exactly this. I don't ever study but I was still able to score 80%-100% on tests on a regular basis, excluding math which I suck at.

My high school has a weird GPA system it actually goes up to 5 and up to 6 if your in honors classes.
GPA Scale-
5=A*
4=B*
3=C*
2=D
1=F

*If your in honors classes in my school those go up one. So a 6 is an "A."
**FYI: Honors classes are the middle way point between regular classes and AP (just incase you didn't know)

OT- My GPA is a 4.1667

You americans are so silly...

Trying to convert our system to yours (I'm portuguese BTW, so we use the same system as most of the European Union), I say I'm around 3.0.

I was definitely a 4.0 student before getting in college, but the difficulty and the global sense in this uni that pure raw knowledge is worse than having practical experience and a little less "bookworm knowledge" reduced the average, although I believe that I'm more prepared than 4.0'ers from other unis.

Disregard School; Play games. I'm a C student and I seem to be much happier then my peers by just playing video games, watching anime, and touching myself.

I'm a 3.0 closer to 4.0, but I could easily get to 4.0, if I gave a damn, or tried. All my grades are from me remembering all the stuff I need from class, if only I cared.

Disregard school: Turn in what may closely resemble effort and then browse the escapist forums.

I take it a 3.7 is closer to a 4.0 than a 3.0? Or do we round down? I put in the bare minimum to get an A. I'd probably be closer to a 4.0 but college calculus was evil.

UK university student but ill try and work out the equivalent.
im averaging about 62 across my subjects (so far my exams start ext week which make up 60% of my grade) this equates to a 2.1, which is the second best, so a 3.0 would be my guess (maybe?)

I'm typically a 3.0 Student. I usually range around 3.2, give or take a few. I'm honestly half surprised as I usually do half ass on oral presentations or anything similar, as I hate standing in front of a crowd and speaking. I'm usually only good with typical schoolwork, not projects.

I always used to get one of the top grades in my class, now I'm in the School-can-kiss-my-hairy-buttocks-and-can-go-fuck-a-garbage-dispenser phase.

Hello Escapist,

With this semester coming to a close, I've been thinking a lot about my grades and how much they matter in the long run. I was wondering what your opinions are on the matter and where you fall on the (incredibly general) scale of poll options. Feel free to post why you feel your grades are how they are in comment form.

On my end, I've pretty consistently been in the 4.0 range throughout my education. I try just hard enough to do well and be viewed as a "good" student by the faculty. As far as real-world work related to my field goes, I exert considerably more effort.

RE-EDIT: It seems as if the poll options have decided to join us.

ADDITIONAL EDIT: It appears as though my squishy American brain has neglected to realize that other countries use a different grading rubric. For those of you who are unaware, 4.0 is the best you can do and the scale (logically) descends from there.
The hell's with this number crap? xD

I'm an underachiever, provided that doesn't mean I get 'under' achieves. I'm always too lax to try at stuff, I generally sleep at lectures now at Uni and then study up before test and finish exams on the day that they're due (12:00am start generally). It's not a good way to go, I realize, but I'm just so damn lazy.

I don't understand this grade point system as its not how things are done here. But I tend to fall around a 'B' average (%70-80) when I was in school. Though unlike many of my classmates I really had to study hard to get my grades.

This trend continued in university, which was insufficient to complete my required 3rd year courses.

I did so terrible in highschool that in my sophomore year it was already clear that I'd have to take an extra year of highschool to graduate so I took the California highschool proficiency examination (CHSPE) instead and left a year early.

seriously it was below 2.0

3.0, i can learn the material easily, but lectures bore me to death. It's significantly worse when a foreign language teacher lectures in a language that you barely know the alphabet in.

This thread makes me feel very inadequate about my study habits...

[small]I'm in-between 2.0 and 3.0. Guilt levels are high.[/small]

My work ethic is crap. I can't bring myself to do homework at home. I don't take notes. Yet I still bring top SAT scores. My teachers are baffled and I don't give a crap.

An unweighted ~2.0 roughly straight Cs, a few Bs.

All in AP and Honors classes, I do almost nothing. (comes to a weighted GPA of about 4.5 on a 6.0 scale, 6.5 on a 8.0 scale.)
