My life is worth no more than any other mans life. But no other mans life is worth more than mine. That's all I have to say. Although, if the world was to face a certain doom - and a hero could only save a few hundred people; I wouldn't really care if I didn't get saved; cause neither did 6 billion other people.
So....I guess you are unsure if you have anything that makes you special? I know I'm not the only one thinking darkly this evening, but c'mon. What makes you...something more? Something worth saving over a tree?
Well, the only thing I can really think of that would put me somewhat above others - or make me worth keeping alive; would be that I am a very deep thinker and come up with very helpful advice for those who are feeling down or are depressed. I am also somewhat of a philosopher.

I could be a psychiatrist for the repopulation/survivors - and hell, we would for sure NEED one.
Psychiatrists should be able to offer perscription marijuana, would make their job so much easier.

Yay I feel loved lol, Interesting assessment though.

This is a really good thread, makes you think...
Its what I sometimes shoot for. (no pun intended) Seems I always post em when no one is on though. I should probably try to figure out when more people are on. Happy to hear you like the appreciation, as I like to give it out.

But then again, 2:50AM isn't exactly morning for a lot of people either. Maybe that is my problem!

Depends on whether they need artists and/or slightly-above-average people. So i guess not.

Dearest NuclearPenguin,
I've never heard anything more true in my life. (BTW, family doctors/psychiatrists can prescribe Medical Marijuana)

Heck, you really think the hero of your life will want the money? If so, congratulations!

Why do all artists seem to think they won't make it? Granted, I've only seen 2, but come on! There is more than one art style, so we probably need more artists.

other than that I dont think anyone wants to bring along a lazy fat guy thats only skill is computers and animals, neither of which they will need.
I think you underestimate the need for a new society to have a fat guy. I'm pretty sure it is now an integrated part of society, which will need replacing in the new world.

[And with the evening reaching 3AM, I'm off. C'mon people! THINK! What makes you more important than the tree sitting around here? Just think of something, anything!]

It depends on the ratio of how many people would die for my survival. If it's ten people, then I'd probably be worth saving due to my intelligence. If it was 1000 people, odds are there would be more important people to save.
Hm. For the greater good huh? Willing to die for the sake of the masses. Pretty selfless of you. Very nice....
The thing is, everyone has had emotions as real as yours, experiences as mindblowing or amazing as any you've experienced. They've lived a life as rich as as yours (provided they're the same age). There is nothing about me that says that my life's experiences are more important than theirs. The only reason I should live over them is the possible benefit I could provide in the future.

I'm not as selfless as I sound though. If it were up to me, I'd save myself almost every time, because I really want to stay alive. But I cannot with a straight face say that I'm worth more than another man.

I thought this was some religious bull at first. The power of "God" will save you when you die.....BLECH!

I'm pretty sure I'm a Hero (not "An Hero" but "A Hero") I'm extremely kind, tall, strong, pretty good looking, great with kids, kinda smart (not "genius" but "pretty damn smart") and when the situation asks for it I can find courage I never knew I had, I could probably save people from a burning building. And I know I can save people from drowning in under 2 minutes (took a lifeguard test). But I don't know if that makes me special enough to save...
(also, I'm extremely humble)

I have some language skills. Nothing really fancy but I speak fluent Finnish, English and Japanese. If a lot of people die then it is good if those who survive are able to communicate with each other, right?

But being a high school student I don`t really have that much knowledge which would help humankind. Still I don`t have any allergies or sicknesses and I`m pretty fit so I probably won`t pass away too soon even if we went back a few decades or even centuries in medical care.

Honestly nothing. I really do feel we live in a society where art takes a backseat to everything else. Even though art and entertainment are some of the biggest industries out there, for any real artist to be able to make a living out of their lives takes an awful lot of sacrifice and being taken advantage of by bigger companies cashing in on said talent.

Besides if the world was ending and it was the last Battlestar of the planet with only 1 seat available, I'm pretty sure random artist would take a backseat to Dr. Gaius Baltar.
Come now. Society has no affect on whether you live or die. If you are a damned good artist, then you should be just fine! Besides, I'm pretty sure we got no doctors here, so you would no doubt be picked up!
Ah, but in this case it is society that is deciding if I live or die is it not, by your scenario? If the world was ending and indeed there was only enough time to save a handful of people, I doubt I would be chosen. I mean this not as a "pity me" response.
I just believe that even with my skill set, there are better choices than I out there.

I'm sure they would only be saving the creme de la creme and not the rest of us mildly talented folks with good intent.
