Been playing The Sims Medieval lately, having a blast. Specially the smith. But anyways.

Say you were living in the middle ages, or was teleported or whatever your mind might conjure up. What profesion would you prefer to have? Anything goes, but I've added some poll options that cower basics. = )

For added fun, tell us why! : )

Personally I would go for smith. Though it might be because I've done a bit of it in real life too. I like working with the metal, and besides. I could make eviiiil looking weapons. >:D

I wouldn't want any of them, because life hundreds of years ago was shit for everybody.
That's the boring answer though, so I think I'd go with "doctor" because I may get some kind of sadistic pleasure out of bleeding someone to cure their cold.

Definitively not warrior, that profession weren't good for your health. Probably craftsman.

I'd like to be a woodsman. Not a "lumberjack" or whatever you want to call it. I'd like to hunt in the woods, and use my bow/axe/whatever to fight for my country whenever necessary, which was a lot back then. Also, this:

Working with leather smells worse than shit, but if I were to be a shoemaker - that's convenient.
But on the other hand it's not a sought after profession since good quality shoes could last you half a decade.

IRL, probably a Lord- comfortable life, plenty of power, little manual work, plenty of wealth...

On the sims itself though...probably a crafter, that sounds interesting.

Why the court Jester of course! (jk)

I would choose the Manual labourer since I could do with a work out.

Have you seen the lifestyle of Henry the Eighth?
I'm surprised he survived dinner.
A minimum of an eight course meal, in between sweets and shit breaks.
It was a JOB to EAT.

Probably blacksmith or craftsman, since I'm an engineer anyway. Plus, they tended to be pretty high up in society. I would say monarch, but they seemed to have an unusually high rate of decapitation back then.

A scribe.
Why? Because I'm a calligrapher as it is, I might as well go into a profession where that particular skill set can make me some fucking money, unlike now.

I'd go with blacksmith. Or a highwayman if my blacksmith job wasn't paying enough.

I'd probably go with smithing as well. I've never done any, but I've seen it done and I think I'd enjoy it.

Could town crier be considered a medieval profession? If not i'd be a knight, because then i'd get to wear plate mail. The most badass of all armors.

A smith, because it builds muscle, you get guilds in the late medieval era, and you make the weapons/tools/jewelery for everyone else

I've competed in the National Dutch K1 competition once and have experience in several martial arts including ones involving sword fights, so I might be a personal bodyguard of royalty or landlords. On the other hand I'm very good at training dogs, so if a safer profession is needed I could train hunting dogs.

Wow, lots of blacksmiths on the escapist. You know that not delivering a quality sword could get you executed, right?

Oh i know, i remember reading one story saying that his lead coffin exploded whilst they trawled it down the river Thames.

Still, i said i would choose a medieval lord, not a Tudor monarch- and who say's i wouldn't be able to control my own diet and get exercise?
