Im flexible in this department. I listen to "good music", regardless of genre. The ones with the bulk of what I enjoy tend to be Classical, "Video Game" music and some "movie" music, as well as some comedy music produced by Johnathan Coulton and the Arrogant Worms. I also enjoy some of the music used for anime openings as well. There seems to be something about them that seems more unique or creative, I dunno.

I have such a wide taste of music, it amazes my friends.

If I had to claim a genre, I'd say Country/Southern Rock and Ska. I don't really like gansta/fuck yo ho rap, additionally, I'm not a really a fan of metal, I don't think very many metal bands are that great of musicians, which in turn make up their short comings by shouting about being hated by everyone. I mean c'mon, I could careless if someone hates me, why yell about it?

EDIT: I understand all types of music have "oh she hates me" stuff, but the vast amount of metal I've been exposed to has almost exclusively been about such topics as being a downbeat in society and/or a loser. Plus, in a social setting it's hard to look intelligent while listening to metal.

Heavy metal. Real heavy metal... you know, the old stuff. Metallica, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Ozzy, Black Sabbath... Back when things weren't watered down by the mainstream.

anything except hip-hop,rap,and 99%country.But I'm mainly an Alternate Rock and Jazz kind of guy which is weird since they are kind of opposites but then again......opposites attract.

[edit]if I had to boil it down to one I guess Alternative Rock!

Uh...videogame/8 bit, I guess. Is that weird or wrong or something?
:p not at all. I'm mostly saying this because you beat me to it, nothing like an extremely catchy chiptune from the 90s to make the day a little more Scott Pilgim-like.

Lots and lots of J-pop, and a bit of J-rock. Although I'll listen to some electronic and classic rock every once and a while.

Have you heard any of Anamanaguchi's stuff? They wrote the music to the Scott Pilgrim game and other things.

If not, do. You will love your life ten times more or I will throw myself into a wood chipper.
I'm listening to it right now, and yes, their stuff is divine.

Heavy metal. The real kind. Judas Priest, not SlipKnot.

Also, death metal. Preferably old school Swedish.

Additionally, thrash metal. A bit of the brutal teutonic style, some of the popular Bay Area style and some of the more melodic/technical variety.

As well as that, doom metal. The classic stuff like Candlemass and bands that sound like Candlemass. Candlemass are good. I like Candlemass.

And by the same token, some power metal, provided its the less gay sort.

In addition to this, some black metal. More the first wave, pre-Norwegian stuff.

Hmm I'm not good the genres but I like Disturbed and Eminem they are my favorates, not such a fan of metal with the screaming lyrics I find them distracting. Its annoying though that people think just beccause you like a band like linkin park that your some kind of slef hating emo teenager

I HATE nickelback and I say that with no apologies

I also like stuff from movie soundtracks like the stuff from Ennio Morricone

Black metal fan here. However, I'm more into the stranger and/or more demented forms of it.

Bands like Nivathe, Unholy Matrimony and (later) Nokturnal Mortum for example.

Only the real shit, please. Dont mean to be a stuck up elitist 6 year old but I cant stand some of this shit that gets called death metal these days. Bands like Kalmah, Odious Mortem, (old) Cryptopsy, etc. As for black metal, keep this hail satan bullshit away from me. Bands like Burzum are awesome, and Dimmus very very first album was flawless.
Yeah, I'm gonna have to agree with this. The kids that go "fuck religion" and "hail Satan" in the same sitting. Wat.

I like pretty much everything except Country. But I find myself listening to 90s rock (from grunge all the way to the more indie stuff at the end) and the experimental stuff, and pop.

I grew up on Prog Rock and Southern Rock, so I'd have to say that I identify with those genres most strongly. Otherwise, I identify with a different genre depending on my mood, which ranges from Psytrance to Latin to Metal and to a genre that, for lack of a better name, I'm calling "Couch".

Metal normally, but I also affiliate myself with oldies like Elvis and softer rock like Journey, as well as Michael Jackson's music.
