Team fortress 2
Shadowrun(what actually IS left of the community)
I've noticed that the games that die out like Shadowrun (or are on the verge of dying out) end up keeping the loyal fans of the game that are passionate about it and just love to have fun. This excludes all the 12 year old screechers and the idiots that seem to be always present in the more popular (but not necessarily better) games because they will follow any fad to look cool.

Bottom line : less popular games = less children (in my experience)

For shooters: I'd like to say the Borderlands community. Good times, and we tend to watch out for loot for each other. To a degree. If we both use SMGs, it's usually finders-keepers.

For overall gaming in general: The Blazblue community is very, very friendly.

Team Fortress 2. Also, L4D games where they're trying to play seriously.

Agreed, I have yet to run into a single tosswad in TF2, and my fellow Brits seem to be a lot chattier as well; you don't get as much banter on the US servers I find.
The funny thing is that I'm an American... so I have to sacrifice ping for interesting players. And it is totally worth it.
What servers do you hang out on?

There's only one way to find out. FIGHT!

On topic. Both the Left 4 Dead and L4D 2 communities are pretty great on PC, I've made of loads of friends in those games and have yet to find a match with a disruptive player
Someone's a TV burp fan it seems

I'm gonna be difficult and say none - the only way to have a truly good community is make your own little band of decent players.

But I will say one of the worst is Red Dead Redemption - people spend hours in free roam just killing one person over and over again instead of just joining a deathmatch and killing for more points and rewards. And then you still get assholes in team games who wait for you to take the bag (CTF type game) all the way to the base - teamkill you then capture it themselves.

Love that game but the community drags it down for me

I do believe CoDMW2 has the most severe cast. House couldn't cure it.
Yea, I used to play a lot of MW2 with a friend of mine who happens to be black. I swear to you we could not get more than 2 games in without somebody screaming N***** at the top of their lungs. I'm starting to think that most of the people who play that game live in the deep south of the United States, or the world is just a lot more racist than i thought.

MW2 (the ORIGINAL MW2, not COD's attempt at using the acronym) was a decent community back in the day.

Of course, that was rather a long time ago now....

(cookie if you don't have to look it up to know what I mean - also, ME2 isn't out yet - stop trying to tell me how good it is, then going on about some space alien RPG thing)

Yea, the other day i spawned in, and this guy with casual targeting (not having to use the aiming stick to get a kill = bullshit) and a mauser was right next to me, got me 7 times before i was able to knock his head off and run away. but that is basically anybody you run into in free roam. I have yet to see one person that hasnt started shooting the moment they saw me.

OT:I would say that you have to get the more dedicated communities on any game. people that play online tend to be people i would never want to associate with in real life. IDK what you guys are saying about L4D2. I run into nothing but twats on that game, so I only ever play with my friends or the bots.

Yeah I even get to the stage where I plug my headset in and say "I'm not even moving are you still going to kill me just for the sake of it?" - I've yet to see someone decide not to. Plus getting teamkilled by posse members for having a public enemy on my head when trying to get the achievement was AWESOME (9/10mins and he does that). I tend not to fire unless they shoot at me first since theres no point in it

I would say that ArmA 2 has one of the best communities ever. If you ask a question (well, an intelligent one), there is always someone to answer it. They relay hardware info and tweaking guides amongst themselves (and freely post them everywhere), and there is always a helpful modder hanging around to answer any scripting or mission-building questions that one may have.

ArmA 2 has the best community - Hands down!

They generate nifty guides like this:

http://ttp2.dslyecxi.com/

I would recommend taking a look! There are some cool things in that guide!

Mostly the No Heroes servers. The thing is, the US servers are almost always full and the stupid reserved slots will often trick you into thinking there is an open spot. But when if you can get in, everyone is pretty cool. The UK servers have nice people and I think they will give you the IP for the similar UK server once you join... like there will be a 24/7 CTF server, and then it will give you the IP for the 24/7 CTF UK server.

Now that lots of CoD-tards have left BC2, it's starting to get a pretty good community. Battlefield: Vietnam always had a good one, but that game's pretty much dead...

Oh, yes, I'll have to agree with that. I haven't played it apart from the Demo (and that only for a few minutes), but I read an article in PCGamer about this game and the community sounds amazingly dedicated.

There are some very good counter strike community servers out there, other than that L4D(both) and TF2.

I have never been wronged by the community in the killzone games. They seem to draw a better crowd. There seems to be decent levels of cooperation and communication amongst those with Mics. That might be the detail thats important there don't seem to be very many people Mic'ed up on that one.

A close second for community quality is LBP but that isn't a shooter.

I have a lot of patience though so I am generally not annoyed by the MW or Halo crowds either.
