Interesting - have you given birth? As you are clearly a guy then no, no you haven't.. therefore YOU have no right to argue that point. I have plenty of friends with kids - all except one the mother stays home and looks after the kids, the guy supports the family. Oh and every statistic backs this up. Yes, more men are staying at home then previously (previously basically none did) but women still are far and above more likely to do so.

I believe women get it harder then men in a lot of regards - men have some things that suck that are only for us, but I think the girls edge us up, mostly in social standing due to lots of idiots.

However I hate.. HATE the following stupid statements so many women make.

1. If men had to give birth the human race would have died out years ago! You couldn't take it!
2. You have no IDEA how much periods suck, NOTHING you go through comes close!

The reason I hate these is because most women who say them do so because they can never be really proven wrong, so it's a 'safe' statement. Nevermind that you also can't prove them to be true.

Birth is painful, hormones raging once a month sucks. Not arguing. But they are not the two worst things in the world to ever be had by anyone.
Not to mention that the whole Childbirth mantra fails when you apply even basic biological or evolutionary knowledge to the claim. To be frank, if men were the ones giving birth, we'd develop the means to withstand the pain just as woman do. If anyone needs more convincing:

On the one hand, I don't expect I will ever be a woman. On the other hand, a lot of the social consequences that women must contend with just for being a woman sound pretty negative. On the third hand, I have it on good authority that women are awesome. So I figure it balances out.

Science-fiction tells us that future generations will experience sexual diversity even more intimately than we can imagine. Major Kusanagi got an accidental sex change thanks to her coworker Batou in Shirow's Ghost in the Shell manga when he picked out an androgynous male for her cyber-brain's emergency body swap. In the Culture novels by Iain M. Banks, citizens of that interstellar anarchic utopia can swap genders can trigger a free sex change with their minds, thanks to sufficiently advanced gene-engineering. I also remember a story by Samuel Delany where, on Triton, there will be shops to swap your sex and even your sexual orientation with no questions asked. I can't think of any more off the top of my head, but if there's anything I've learned about the real 21st century it'll be even stranger than science-fiction of the 20th century.

Ummm... Interesting question...

Cons to being a man:

1.The pressure from other guys.
2.Excessive amount of pride to have respect
3.Excessive pressure and conflict about homosexuality? Guys seem to be more homophobic about men, while lesbians are totally okay, guys don't mind as much.

Can't think of anything else for guys to be honest

Cons to being a Woman:

1.Child birth
2.Pressure about your figure. A guy doesn't get as much insults when they put on a few pounds. For girls, it's brutal.
3.Periods, no idea but apparently those are horrible
4.Common sexism? That still lingers around here and there.

That's all I can think of, since I am not a woman, but it clearly seems that it is worse to be a woman. My condolences. =P

Just for the record, as it doesn't seem to be an opinion often expressed. But for some people, menstruation is no big deal and hardly an inconvenience or a pain.

You'd think it was death sentence by the way it's usually portrayed in threads like these. I know some people get severe cramps/bleeding/hormonal stress, but I doubt they're anywhere near the majority of women. v:

I'd imagine it must suck harder to be a woman. Having to conform to society's standards to what's "attractive" I'd imagine would be quite stressful. Meanwhile, as a guy I don't have to worry about that kind of stuff as much.

I do know however that up until midway through the 20th century, women had very limited rights and opportunities. In fact, in places like the Middle East, they still have very little rights and freedoms.

From a biological point of view it seems somewhat even except for maybe the whole pregnancy deal. Otherwise from a political point of view being a women is probably less beneficial when looking around the world.

Normally I would think that women have it pretty good, except...

As a guy, I can't think of a single thing that makes it difficult to be a guy. Seriously, not a damn thing. Granted, that doesn't make me happier to be a guy, which I would rather not be. Anyway, I tip my hat to the women since it is clearly much more difficult.
Thank you! I was gonna say that too. ... I'm a guy too. The only thing is relations with some girls which is CLEARLY mirrored by guys.

Men have it worse. Why have I taken this stance? Well, because women have the final vote. You can fall in love with a woman, and if she doesn't like you well you're SOL with your heart torn to pieces left to start anew while the woman sees it as a minor inconvenience. Experience is a hateful teacher.
It can work the other way around, too, you know...

As much as this thread is... blehhhhh, I'm gonna have to say women have it harder. Why? Well for one, the thing I have dangling between my legs doesn't give extremely painful birth or bleed once a month. Also, being a guy means that I don't have to worry too much about getting raped (just sayin). There's also the appearance factor, where women seem to focus on their appearance too much and guys don't. Not to mention the fact that there are STILL feminist groups fighting for women's rights when both men and women should already be equal. And just take a look at the Taliban, they treat women like dirt!

*ahem*

Point is, while I believe men and women are equal, there will always be those that believe men are superior because of biology. I'm just glad I don't have to give birth...

Oh. That's strange. From my experiences, it's the exact opposite.

I've never been a woman (LOL?), and I hope I never am, but from what I've heard FROM women hating what they gotta deal with (periods, perverts, birth pain, etc.) and the fact that I don't like the idea of those things and stuff, I've gotta say women, YOU GO THROUGH ALLOTTA SHIT! I there IS a dominant gender mine bet's on women, they've got harder trials that ya go through, so the way I see it, yer ALLOT tougher! XD

I dunno man, our balls can sometimes get REALLY itchy...
As a guy I can live with that. Freaking out at 37 cause you haven't had a kid yet and then actually having to go through child birth, if, in her opinion, she's lucky enough to, menopause and 30+/- years of periods before hand, yeah I think I'll pass if I get to choose again. Granted we may loose blood flow and brain activity occasionally but I still think that's a damn good trade off.

I'm going to say equal.

Because any other answer is sexism.
And that's like saying it's racist to say black guys are darker than white guys... kinda
