Sometimes I'll sink about 12 hours into a game other times I'll just put in a few levels of Splosion Man. Admittedly the former tends to happen more often than the latter but all the same I'd just as soon not try a difinitive label of myself.

Certainly not casual, but an ex-hardcore gamer, now floating somewhere between the two.

I guess I'm more of an artsy/indie gamer nowadays, though, since I've taken up looking for games with interesting or amazing art styles, and I've really been getting into a bunch of freeware games on the 'net.

I'm an escapist gamer. I use games as an escape. I also play for fun with my friends, but I enjoy them as a hobby also.

I chose casual, but a better word for me would be versatile. I play all manner of games, from platformers (Bionicle:the game, Psychonauts, Ratchet & Clank, Tomb Raider) to Hack-n-Slash(God of War 2, Star Wars Episode 3), along with some Action-RPGs (Mostly the Kingdom hearts series, my favorite game series thus far, along with Marvel: Ultimate Alliance), Lego Games (Both Lego Star Wars 1 & 2, Lego Batman), superhero games (Spiderman 2, Incredible Hulk: Ultimate destruction), I've played one FPS (Star Wars Battlefront 2), and how could I forget 2D games like Aquaria and Peggle?

In other words, I play many different games, but I have a few favorites from each genre. I'm quite Versatile.

Old games: hardcore. I like to speedrun Metroid for example and (re)play many NES games in general as well as PC games around 1997-1999.

New games: casual. Well, I dont like the way games turned out this generation. I feel not interestet in, lets say, games like Uncharted, Gears of War, Grid or CoD5. I rather game on my DS Lite or play good motion controlled Wii games like Grand Slam Tennis in short, but highly entertaining, bursts.

Eclectic Gamer: I like all kinds of games and puzzles, not just the ones that pop up on screens.

When it comes to video games, I like the hardcore games, the casual games, the indy games, the oldschool, and I can probably find at least one example I like from each genre.
I'm the same way with music.

I don't like labels, but for myself it would have to be a Newschool Softcore
Newschool because my first real console (that was MINE, not a relatives or similar) was a Nintendo 64. Sadly, I missed the heyday of the NES, SNES, and such, so I lack the Oldschool knowledge that my friends have.
Softcore, because I game more than a Casual person but not as fervently as a Hardcore gamer.

I picked other. I guess that I'm somewhere between casual and hardcore. I play games like Mass Effect, BioShock, The Orange Box, Ghostbusters, Rock Band, etc., but I don't get to play games all that often because my stupid little brother is always on the 360, screaming & crying at Halo 3 & CoD4 for most of the day.
