Poll: What type of Gamer would you consider yourself?

Indie. I love free games like spelunky, cave story, deathworm, and I love games like world of goo, psychonauts and okami. (I know those last two aren't indie). Basically, I love anything beautiful or clever. But I do play plenty of normal games as well, so I'll go for hardcore.

I would consider my self to be casual, but not in the Wii sense casual, I normally play games for a bit of fun and to just catch up with friends etc.

I mean as in involving kids in the games, I have no problem with games like SSBB or wii sports, mario cart. All fun. But I mean I don't play casual games, I play games casually. If that makes sense.

Old schoolers and hardcore gamers tend to be elitists that enjoy looking down on us lesser gamers.

I've played enough games and at more difficult modes to not be a casual gamer, but I'm by no means hardcore. So honestly, I don't know.

I would class casual games as like some platformers, Like mario. I would say the wii fit is casual, but then again people use as part as a fitness routine. I would say the raving rabbids games are casual as with the carnival minigame one. "uncasual" games I would include games like Crysis, the call of duty series and halo to some extent.

Sadly there are divisions based on skills (n00bs, l33t) which are very well sensible online, and I think casual's (people who only play, low difficulty casual games) aren't the most respected group, I myself don't really consider them gamers, but I'm probably a ignorant self-absorbed fgt

as with everyone else, I'm having a problem deciding which umbrella I fit under.

I feel that I deserve the title of 'hardcore', as I play very often and am extremely well-versed in the vast multitude of varying video game mechanics. I've achieved the kind of understanding and knowledge of the way game logic can work that only comes from having played scores of different games since the tender age of 4.

However, I'm certainly not hardcore in the sense that I play often competitively and care about being better than others. If you looked at me in that regard, one could easily label me as a 'casual gamer.' It's not my skill here, I'm generally pretty good at every game I play, it's just that I have no burning desire (as we all know some do..) to prove that I am UTTERLY AND COMPLETELY DOMINANT OVER EVERYONE ELSE WHO TOUCHES A CONTROLLER.


So you could say I'm a hardcore gamer.. for fun?

i like to play hardcore games but am not really amazingly good at them like some people are so i would class my self as a casual/hardcore gamer like i dont play games like wii tenis or owet but then am not amazingly good at cod or street fighter and often gets my ass handed to me on a silver plate lol but dosent stop me trying lol xD
