Vintage Pokemon always does wonders for a person such as myself. I remember the excited of playing Red for the first time back in the winter of 1997 and the joys that followed. I mean, you could be total strangers with a majority of people at school...but the moment you saw a sticker, card, or a gameboy in someone's backpack, it was a conversation starter and led to friendships formed and a lot of other things...

I digress though. Red & Blue (and to some extent of Yellow since that was whored out to the fans of the show who wanted their very own Pikachu and access to all three starter Pokemon) were the best and made Pokemon more enjoyable. Silver and Gold were also good since they kept the formula the same and everything simple, not to mention adding the new Johto region along with getting the chance to kick ass and take names in the Kanto regions as well.

I'm a Diamond/Pearl/Platinum guy. I liked the look, I liked the plot, I liked the human designs, and I liked the love it gave to pokemon that needed evos and what not.
That, and it was a region where it actually snowed, and snow is my favorite weather. It's the little things.

I prefer the Gold/Silver generation. Mostly because I've only played one of the old ones(red/blue/yellow) and I just LOVE Silver. Which is why I'll probably pirate err.. buy Soul Silver when it's out.

I'd say the originals and the third generations are my favorites. Pokemon's a fun game, but stupid advertising and media (cartoon show) made it look really stupid. (not that it didn't look stupid in game sometimes). Regardless of how it looks anyway, it's a fun game. It's also really fun to hack >:D

Red/blue/yellow, hands down. Comparing the newer ones to the RBY generation is like comparing PS3/360/Wii to classics like the SNES or N64: yes they're more modern and the graphics are slightly more orgasmic, but the oldies have memories. And typically better games *cough* Goldeneye *cough* *sneeze* Mario Kart 64 *sneeze*.

Back to the point, my vote unquestionably goes to the RBY generation of Pokemon.

perosoanlly i love the 2nd gen because you could travel between regions and it was the first game to have eggs. also once you had a ditto you never had to catch another pokemon for mating because it mated with everything (the hore)and the hatched pokemon would have mostly the same exact moves as their parents (example my level 100 typhlosion mated with dito got a cyndiquil that knew flame thrower and flame wheel when it was born. epic)crystal was my first game. anybody remeber the clone trick for g/s?
